What can I say? Sometimes it’s not that the promo pile is brimming over with releases and you miss out on a few things, sometimes you just get so caught up you simply forget. You miss the signs that something you’ve been waiting for forever slips by (ahem, *Hällas*) or that one album your friend has been telling you is damn good and you need to hear it and…you don’t. Sometimes a band you love just ups and sneaks one past you without a word.

And sometimes…sometimes children…you don’t get a promo at all.

We’re not complaining; we’re a small site and we do this for the simplest of reasons, and whether or not that also happens to feed the vicious masochistic streak hiding below our tender skins well, so be it. So for this edition of Nine Circles ov… let’s check out a few that got away.

CANTO: Scorpions, Amorphis, Voivod, and More

Holy shit the new Zeal & Ardor is amazing. That’s all I have to offer on this Friday.

Just kidding. Scorpions dropped a new track, titled “Seventh Sun”, which you can stream here. Not a bad way to start the transition into what is going to be a massive 2022 touring schedule.
One of the many notable releases today was Voivod’s Synchro Anarchy, which is available through Century Media. To celebrate the new album, they dropped a new visualizer for “Sleeves Off”. If you still need the album, you can order it here.
A new visualizer from Napalm Death is also worth including. So here’s the clip for “Resentment is Always Seismic (Dark Sky Burial Burge)”. Their new mini-album is out today through Century Media.
Hell Militia unveiled a new track today, in “Genesis Undone”. That one is taken from Hollow Void, which is a Season of Mist release set for March 18th.
Since it is Halo release day, we’ll wrap up the week with the 3D art video from Amorphis for “Northwards”, the opening track from the latest (and very awesome) new album. That’s out through Atomic Fire, if you weren’t aware.

CANTO: Inter Arma, Killswitch Engage, Scorpions, and More

Inter Arma dropped a cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain” today, a track taken from their Garbers Days Revisited collection. As a reminder, that album drops on July 10th through Relapse Records.
Killswitch Engage are celebrating their 20th year as a band with this timeline, which documents important moments and events. It’s a like a digital KSE museum, and I am all about it.
Waltari have announced a live show stream scheduled for Saturday July 11th, with a full Q&A afterwards. This event helps celebrate their recently released new album, Global Rock, which is out through Metalville Records.
Scorpions are still trucking along, now in their 55th year as a band. And today we got a new track called “Sign of Hope”. Sounds like they are currently in the process of writing a new album. Good for them.
Lastly, let’s check out this new video from Neaera for “Deathless” together. This should be a good time. Their self-titled album dropped back in February through Metal Blade.

Donuts & CANTO: Scorpions, Megadeth, Nine Inch Nails and more!

Good morning, it’s time to metal. Here’s some news you might have missed from yesterday:

It appears Scorpions and Megadeth will be touring together this fall. Granted, this is just a single show announcement — for an October 7 date at the LA Forum — but it does mention something called the “Crazy World Tour,” so…there’s your two and two. Maybe I’ll finally get a chance to see reverse-aging phenomenon Rudolf Schenker in person!

If you’re in the Los Angeles area, congratulations! Nine Inch Nails have announced their first show in three years, and it’s in your area! (At this year’s FYF Fest on July 23) If you’re not in the Los Angeles area, you get nothing and like it.

It’s been a while since Mike Portnoy annoyed his way out of a band, so luckily for all of us, it looks like he’s got a new one in the works! Maybe. Rumors are suggesting it’ll be with ex-Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinian and ex-Guns ‘n’ Roses guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal. I give it about seven months until he’s unemployed again.

Judas Priest have officially entered the studio to record the follow-up to 2014’s Redeemer of Souls. Or at least, that’s what their Instagram would appear to suggest. Maybe they’ve just gotten Tom Allom and Andy Sneap to pose for pictures just to fuck with us. Who knows?

According to frontman Chuck Billy, Testament is aiming to have the follow-up to last year’s Brotherhood of the Snake out in 2018. I wonder if a condensed recording schedule will lead to a less conspiracy theory-y album?

And finally, we here at Nine Circles were pretty big fans of the last Novembers Doom album, Bled White. So naturally, we’re pretty stoked to hear a new song from them! Check out the lyric video for “Zephyr” below:

The band’s new album, Hamartia, will be out April 14 on The End Records. Anyway, that’ll do it for now — check back this time tomorrow for our next edition!

CANTO: Wolves in the Throne Room updates, a new project called Saudade, and more

I knew about this a couple of days ago but failed to share it. Wolves in the Throne Room will be reissuing Diadem of 12 Stars. More importantly, they’ll be touring in September.
Chino Moreno has started a new project called Saudade. He has teamed up with Dr. Know from Bad Brains. A unique partnership to say the least. You can stream some stuff here.
I just can’t scroll past Behemoth news. Even if I wanted to… which I never would. Anyway, bassist Orion has revealed that there will more Behemoth music in the future, which, phew, I can sleep at night again.
Mikkey Dee, drummer for Motorhead, will be stepping in on drums for the Scorpions on their upcoming U.S. tour.
