Its been a long time since I posted anything for Nine Circles. Of all the things 2017 has been for me, it has definitely been the busiest I’ve ever been. I joined more bands, recorded drums / vocals for other bands, art for my bands and other bands, PR for my bands and others, started a record label, and a bunch of other stuff. I miss being more active with Nine Circles but it looks like the current staff has been crushing it!
Anyway, the time has come for year end list. I love reading everyone’s lists and seeing what albums I might have missed or maybe need to check out again. I hope you find some new music in here you will enjoy. Continue reading →
Fitting that we’re in October and are on lucky playlist number 13. Not sure about you but I stayed up way too late watching Hammer Horror films last night and am currently drowning myself in pot after pot of coffee. But, ’tis the season for this kind of thing. As usual we have an eclectic mix for you in the following playlist and since it’s Monday we all need an extra kick in the head to get moving. Catch up on the last 12 volumes right here and subscribe while you’re at it. Without further ado, hit the play button below and see what we’ve all been listening to. Continue reading →
Good bourbon and good metal go hand in hand. Either can strike a chord immediately or simmer over time as layers and nuances are slowly peeled back. However, it’s pure magic when you can experience both at the same time but I digress, there’s a ton of metal to cover today so, shall we? Leading us off this week is the triumphant return of black metal giants Enslaved with their fourteenth full length E and whether immediate or over time, this album is astounding. Next up, Spectral Voice‘s debut Eroded Corridors of Unbeingis a hefty beast of a death metal album that fully warrants the attention it has received. Moving along, grind / death / doomsters The King Is Blind return with their second full length We Are the Parasite, We Are the Cancerand heavy handedly topple their debut and closing out the opening slots, Gloam offer up an exceptional EP, Death is the Beginning, that pushes their brand of black metal even further with a hint of thrash and doom. With all that said, it would be a great week with just those four but we are a long way from being done — so get after it… Continue reading →
Its hard to exist in the underground metal scene and not hear about the great things coming out of Denver, CO. Across the spectrum of metal, bands like Khemmis, Glacial Tomb, Primitive Man, and Blood Incantation, as well as labels like Dark Descent Records, are making the Rocky Mountain city a haven for metal fans. Among this new contingent is Spectral Voice, a band who has been content, until now, to gather attention through a steady series of splits and EP’s. Now the band is set to release their debut full-length Eroded Corridors of Unbeing and capitalize on that momentum. Continue reading →
Good morning! Back on the Monday routine with this thing… Let’s see how long that lasts. This week’s sampling is a bit all over the map (nothing new there) and I personally included a couple of gems that filled my ears during this past weekend’s Reach the Beach relay. There’s just something amazing about blasting In The Woods… while you’re running along a painfully hilly stretch of road in New Hampshire’s mountains in the middle of the night… Anyway, I digress. Dive in there and have some fun. If you want to take the ol’ time machine back a few weeks, previous playlists can be found on our YouTube channel.
