CANTO: Exodus, Aborted, Between The Buried And Me, and More

This might have been the longest work week of my life. As a result, this beer tastes even better than usual.

Life is sparking again, live shows are popping off left and right, and every week of new metal releases has many something’s for everyone. Things are looking up in those regards, so rejoice…or hail Satan. Or whatever you do these days. This week in new metal uncovers the newest ritual from Amenra, a return to holistically bleak beginnings from Withered, a slappin’ slab of death metal from The Absence, wicked ugly death metal from Cerebral Rot, and the next black/doom/punk chapter from Darkthrone. Oh, you noticed? Yes, there’s five up top and could’ve easily been more but in the context of getting you to the rest of what lies below, I chopped it at cinco. Plenty here for everyone, so go and fire up these band’s bank accounts, pronto. Support what you love with ferocity and sing its praises loud even if no one cares. You do, and that’s all that matters.

CANTO: The Absence, Byzantine, Autarkh, and More

I am totally overwhelmed with shit to do today, so let’s hustle this thing out.

  • We’ll start with Byzantine, who have launched a new website, as well as a web series that will premiere this summer titled “Pick A Side”. Check out this teaser video. Sounds a like a pretty cool concept. They’ll also be on tour this summer to celebrate their 21st anniversary. You can find a link to that stuff at their new website as well.
  • And then we have some new videos to share. Let’s start with The Absence, and their new clip for “Black Providence”. That’s the third track taken from Coffinized, which is set for a June 25th release through M-Theory Audio. Pre-order that album here.
  • Do you like beer as much as you like metal? Then you might want to check out Vox&Hops Brewtal North America. Participating breweries will be working with bands to release unique, collaborative brews… and this is exactly what I need in my life right now. Learn more here, there are some pretty awesome names involved.
  • Have you ever felt the need to witness a McDonald’s themed metal band live? Well, now is your chance. Mac Sabbath is hitting the road across the United States starting in late August. Not entirely sure what to do with this information… but that’s probably the point.
  • And we’ll close with the new video from Autarkh for “Alignment”. That’s another one taken from Form In Motion, which dropped earlier this year through Season of Mist.

CANTO: The Absence, Heavy Temple, Vulture, and More

Why are the short weeks always the god damn longest?

  • Heavy Temple, a name I’m thrilled to be talking about again, have released the first single from their new album. Lupi Amoris is set for a June 18th release through Magnetic Eye Records (pre-order link, of course), and you can stream “The Maiden” right now.
  • Vulture have also shared information about their new album. Dealin’ Death will be released on May 21st through Metal Blade Records, and you can pre-order that here, while also checking out the new video for “Malicious Souls”. I encourage doing both.
  • Accordion playthroughs don’t emerge often, but when they do, it makes complete sense that it would be Korpiklaani sending them our way. Check out the clip for “Huolettomat”, a track taken from Jylhä, right here.
  • Lastly, the new music video from melodic death metallers The Absence. Check out “Choirs of Sickness” immediately below, a new single from Coffinized. Their 5th studio release will be out on June 25th through M-Theory Audio.
