Hello and welcome again to another Saturday morning mixtape. This week, we have the excellent new single from Gojira, my favorite Sad Boy Jams, and quite a bit more metalcore than we’ve had on here in a while. Check it out below.
And finally, as I was saying, new Gojira is obviously the most important news of the day. Fortitude drops on April 30th, and can be pre-ordered here. Below you’ll find the clip for the new track, “Born For One Thing”, which brings all the riffs.
Clock on the wall says 1am and unsurprisingly cracking a bottle of Henry McKenna 10yr bourbon just feels right as I sample the picks we’ve assembled for this week’s playlist. Don’t judge me, no work tomorrow and after 40+ years of practice my eyes will open no later than 5am so put that in your pipe and smoke it. Anyway, we’ve got a stacked mixtape for this glorious Saturday and I’ve confirmed it’s, as they say, a banger. I bring some new Bloody Hammers and The Crown, Vince brings The Ruins of Beverast and Havukruunu, Didrik lays down a killer Woods of Ypres pick along with new Soen, Ian offers up a Møl cut and an Aara track, and Angela keeps the livestream Goatwhore feels alive as well as a selection from Divide and Dissolve. All that and a ton more awaits behind the play button below, so get after it.
The Crown are returning in 2021 with a new album. Set for a March 12th release, Royal Destroyer will be available through Metal Blade Records. Pre-orders are available here, as well as the new single “Motordeath”.
The Sword have also returned with a new track, kind of. It’s a live performance of “The Warp Riders”, taking from the 2010 album, Warp Riders. It was recorded as part of their Conquest of Quarantine lockdown sessions. Give it a watch right here.
Solbrud are releasing an audio/visual live album on Marth 26th through Eisenwald, titled Levende I Brønshøj Vandtårn. If you want to end your day with some pretty wild black metal, check out this clip for “Øde Lagt” below.
Oh, this is probably worth mentioning. Interested in owning a piece of black metal history? Well, a fragment of Dead’s skull can be yours for a slim $3,500.00. Yes, you can literally own a piece of the deceased Mayhem vocalist (accompanied by a letter from Euronymous dated in 1991, five days after Dead’s suicide). Crazy and WEIRD.
Big news from Astronoid today. Their second, self-titled, full length album will be out February 1st through Blood Music. You can catch them on tour early next year with Between The Buried and Me and Tesseract. For now, however, you can check out a new song called “I Dream In Lines.”
