CANTO: In Flames, Firtan, Carnation, and More

Another Monday. A very different Monday. But a Monday all the same.

  • There’s a lot of heavy news out there to start the week, so we’re going to go with something lighter. In Flames dropped a live clip of “The Great Deceiver” from Dalhalla Brinner, and also announced a new branded hot sauce. Random, but being the hot sauce connoisseur that I am… I’m not complaining!
  • German atmospheric black metallers Firtan revealed the second track from Marter, titled “Labsal”. Give that one a listen here. That album, by the way, is slated for a September 30th release through AOP Records.
  • Lots of live footage to share today. Next up we have Voyager, the electro power pop project out of Perth. The virtual performance of A Voyage Through Time from last year will be made available in full on August 26th through Season of Mist, and you can see a clip of “Runaway” right here and now.
  • Closing with some Belgian death metal, we have footage from Carnation at Hellfest 2022. Give their performance of “Stench of Death” a watch and listen below. That will eventually be released as a 7″, which you can order here.

CANTO: Accept, Lamb of God, Lybica, and More

Still shaking out the FITM cobwebs. In a good way. I wish I could say it’s nice to be home and back at work but… I’m not so sure it is.

  • Leading, we have news surrounding the first U.S. Accept tour in a decade. The dates run from September 29 through October 29, and include some meet and greet packages. Get the full scoop right here.
  • In other North American tour news, we have Wormhole, who will be joining the Shadow Of Intent headlining tour this coming October with the likes of Enterprise Earth and Inferi. All the dates can be found here.
  • Lybica, the new project featuring Killswitch Engage drummer Justin Foley on guitar, have revealed details surrounding the self-titled debut album. The release date is set for September 16, and it will be available through Metal Blade. Check out the video for “Manifest” right now.
  • This performance video for “Hyperventilating” from Voyager is also worth checking out. They’ll be releasing the full virtual performance, A Voyage Through Time, on August 26 through Season of Mist.
  • Lamb of God unveiled a video for “Omens” today, the title-track from their upcoming new album. Check it out below. That record drops on October 7 through Epic Records, and can be pre-ordered here.

CANTO: Mastodon, Opeth, Inglorious, and More

Happy Amorphis week!

  • I think leading off with Mastodon and Opeth is the proper choice. Those two have another North American tour coming up together, in April and May, and I cannot wait. They’re skipping my coast this time around, but I have a feeling I’m still going to make this happen.
  • In case it wasn’t obvious, I’m excited about the new Amorphis record. So on that note, I’m going to slide in the latest studio documentary episode, where they cover the vocals and lyrics. Watch it here, and make sure you have Halo ready to go on Friday.
  • Out of the Voyager camp, we have a fresh new drum play-through for the Eurovision song “Dreamer”. In case you were wondering, that song is taken from 2019’s release, Colours in the Sun.
  • Inglorious have announced their ever first live release, MMXXI Live At The Phoenix. That’s set for an April 8th release through Frontiers Music. Check out the clip for “I Don’t Need Your Loving” immediately below, and purchase the album here.

CANTO: Osi and the Jupiter, Dawn Of Solace, Body Count, and More

Third consecutive days in the 90s, and I didn’t skip a single run. Dumb!

  • Osi and the Jupiter, one of my favorite discoveries in the last couple of years, have set the release date for their fourth album, Stave. That will be out on August 27th through Eisenwald on CD, vinyl, and cassette formats. Check out the new track and video, “Folk of the Woods”, right now. Now where is my pre-order link???
  • Voyager have announced a new special virtual show which they’ve titled “A Voyage Through Time”. The show will air on Sunday, September 5th, a date that also celebrates the launch of Voyager 1. Tickets can be acquired here, and more details are to follow soon (I hope).
  • Dawn Of Solace, the solo project of gothic death/doom icon Tuomas Saukkonen, has set November 12th as the release date for Flames of Perdition. The third album under that project will be out through Noble Demon, and can be pre-saved/ordered here.
  • Iron Maiden covers are entertaining, so I’ll link in this version of “Flight of Icarus” from White Wizzard. The track features regular touring vocalist Mikey Dean Gremio (ex-Cellador), which is a fun fact of sorts.
  • And we’ll wrap up with the latest fan-created Body Count video for “The Hate Is Real”. That’s the second such version for that track, which is taken from Carnivore (Century Media). Give it a watch below.
