The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 112 (1.18.2020)

playlist - mixtape

We’re back on a regular format today.  No more eulogies from me, thankfully.  Instead, we’ve just got our weekly assortment of whatever great tunes we’ve been jamming.  This week, I throw in some new Cult of Luna, which I enjoyed a lot more than its one hour and twenty minute run time would have had me believe I could, Anton throws in the new single from Sutrah which he’s been gushing about to anyone with ears around these parts, and we have a few picks from a site newcomer who you may or may not be hearing more from very soon…

Until then, enjoy.

Here’s to hoping you enjoy our sampling and that it makes the start of another week a little more tolerable! Continue reading

On the flip side of the coin, 2016 was about as strong a year in metal that I personally have seen in ages which was a great thing considering the state of affairs otherwise. As usual, metal was my comfort food and the offerings were bountiful. With that said, making a best of list was extremely difficult. What made the cut is only a fraction of my favorites but they represent what I listened to and enjoyed the most but also are the ones that I returned to an insane amount of times and for endless reasons. Stick a fork in 2016 and let these champions ride you out on a high note.  Continue reading
