The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 95 (9.7.2019)
Welcome to another Saturday. This weekend is a busy one for me, but at least this time it’s because I have a bunch of fun things I’m doing instead of having to trudge in to work. I’m still taking a second out of my morning to prepare, though, and there’s no better way to do it than with our weekly mixtape playlist. This week I’m still pretty much just listening to Envy, Charles does me proud by throwing in my favorite Black Sabbath song, and Anton bumps the new Cattle Decapitation single. Strap yourselves in folks, because this is a good one.

The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 89 (7.27.2019)
Folks, it’s Saturday. The day that felt like it’d never come. But alas and long week be damned it’s time for whatever it is you do when you’re not paying the bills. And of course we’re here to help soundtrack the whole thing with another loaded playlist of the things we’ve been jamming this week. We’ve got tons of death metal, some hardcore..ish sludge, a little bit of black metal, a lot of stuff in between, and we close the whole thing down with a tribute to Des Kensel who just announced his departure from High On Fire, sad news. Go, hit the play button, and let the rough side drag. Oh, if you were subscribed to our YouTube channel you could’ve had this playlist last night so do that right here.

Morning, kiddos. It’s a pretty cool Friday, all things considered. For one, it’s my last day at my job. For another, I just had my brain annihilated by Carcass, Ghoul and Night Demon last night at the Gramercy Theatre. (Also, Crowbar played.) You might say I’m kinda jacked on this week, and you’d be right. Factor in some new metal on top of that? Game on. So what’ve we got this week?
Well, we start with Guidance, the new, sixth album from Chicago instrumental trio Russian Circles. Beyond that? All manner of things: Vukari, Necromancing the Stone (which my colleague Manny-O-War is super high on), Bloody Hammers (with whom my other colleague Tenebrous Kate had an awesome interview)…you name it. Beginning this week, we’re also expanding our “Other New Releases of Note” section to cover even more new releases. Want your band featured in an upcoming edition? Send us your info! We’ve added a new submission form at the very end of the post to do just that.
Exciting stuff all around. But for now, let’s focus on this week — here’s what’s on tap:
