Initial Descent: April 8, 2016

It’s funny: even though I’d marked April 8 on my calendar weeks ago to signify it as “Ihsahn Day,” I somehow completely forgot that the new Deftones album, Gore — which I’ve as excited for if not more excited for — also drops today. Seriously. Didn’t even remember it until I was putting this post together. So yeah! Now I’m officially jacked for today!

It doesn’t stop there, though. We’ve also got a collaborative album from Cult of Luna and Julie Christmas, and new stuff from Geryon, Bog of the Infidel and even everyone’s favorite over-appreciated guitarist, Zakk Wylde! So let’s not waste any more time: here’s what’s on tap for Friday, April 8:

CANTO: New music from Zakk Wylde, Grave Miasma, and Babymetal (kinda)

Quickies: News from Zakk Wylde, Napalm Death, and a cartoon about Immortal

I’m listening to the new Periphery and I don’t hate it. I’m also one track in. Barely.

That was Sons of Northern Darkness: Episode 1. And it’s amazing. I hope for many more parts. Because remember, “lunch is for pussies… and Metallica.” I’m in stitches.

Quickies: GOJIRA NEWS. And some other stuff. But not much. It’s a slow week.

I’m stuck here in Brooklyn with a little time to kill before I head up to Saint Vitus, so I figured to myself, “why not take on today’s Quickies?” Welp, here they are. Let’s check out what we missed in the metal world today, shall we?

Not bad, but could probably have used a bit more Allegaeon. Oh well. Anyway, that’ll do it for today. Check back tomorrow!

Quickies: May 9, 2014

It’s Friday. Stay tuned for Episode 5 of the Horns Up Podcast followed by The Dump, coming at you bright and early tomorrow. Ya know, by the crack of noon.

Anyway, I’ve seen many, many review of Agalloch’s The Serpent and the Sphere but I’ve held firm. Only a few more days until I allow myself to listen to it. But, there are more things going on than my anticipation of this album. So, let’s get these Quickies out so that I can drink (more):

That parody is actually one of the better ones I’ve seen in awhile. Although you do need to (kinda) sit through Disturbed’s music. That’s it for this week’s Quickies. Have a good weekend.
