I took two days off last week because I felt like it.

Queen is going on tour with Adam Lambert following the release of Bohemian Rhapsody and not a single part of me is at all surprised.
Some of the guests on the new Devin Townsend record: Steve Vai, Chad Kroeger, Anneke Van Giersbergen, among others of course. Interesting.
Demon Hunter (which is a name I haven’t said in awhile) will drop two albums in March, War and Peace. I’m a little intrigued about what they will do with such a project.
You know who I really like? Hinayana. You know who dropped a new video today? Also Hinayana. It’s for “The Window” and it’s as awesome as I would have hoped. If I can get my junk together, I’ll be talking about this in more depth in the coming days.

The Nine Circles Audio Thing: Amorphis was May 2018’s Album of the Month!

We’re well into a new month, so that means we’re back with another chat about our favorite album from the old month! For this May-2018-edition of “old-month,” that album is Amorphis‘ spellbinding new set, Queen of Time. (Or, as one Chris Voss might refer to it, Queen of Bee.)

Whatever you call it, it’s the Finnish legends’ thirteenth album to date, and we here at the blog were all pretty taken with it. (This time out, “we here at the blog” translates to: Dan, Corey, Chris, Vince, Hera and Mark. Josh S. wanted to be here, too, but Google Hangouts had other ideas and wouldn’t let him in. SO MUCH FOR NOT BEING EVIL, AMIRITE?)

Anyway, we all got together this past Sunday to discuss the album and are thrilled to be bringing that conversation to you now. Jump on in and take a listen!

Oh hey, it’s me! Yep, I still have time to do these things sometimes. Like, once in a blue moon. Apparently, nursing school and a complete absence from social media aren’t conducive to consistent metal blogging. Who knew? Anyway, we’re already late on this, so I’ll shut up. Here’s some stuff you might have missed from today:

Leading off, Bloodbath have been forced to cancel their North American tour dates — including their planned stop at Maryland Deathfest later this week — due to that old so-and-so, visa issues. [Evergreen sentiment here, but: you’re a real turd, visa issues!] Bloodbath joins Darkspace, Chthe’ilist, Blk Ops, Zemial, Baptism, Misþyrming, My Dying Bride, and Dagon’s Caravan of Awful [Alleged] Behaviors and Worldviews on this year’s MDF cancellation list.

Cool stuff here–Rivers of Nihil and Black Crown Initiate have announced their joint “Reading Rainbow” tour, which is named after (and closes in) their hometown of Reading, PA. Which is also my hometown. Hooray for Reading things!
Coal Chamber has apparently been teasing some sort of big upcoming announcement on their Twitter page. Sadly, it’s probably not an announcement that they’ll be breaking up and ridding us all of their dreck.
