Nine Circles ov…Albums I Missed While on Vacation

Can’t a guy take a few weeks off with dozens upon dozens of new albums being scattered into the winds? Thank the heavens for Ian and Angela, who covered (and covered me) with reviews of Ithaca, Imperial Triumphant, and Wailin Storms so I was able to read up and listen while burning to a crisp in Mexico. But – like every week – that was just the tip of the iceberg for heavy music, so for this edition of Nine Circles ov… let’s play a quick game of catch-up with a bunch of releases from the past two weeks we didn’t cover on the site.

Wake Up and Smell the Satan! – August 19, 2016

Of all the putrid civilizations to populate this wretched earth, few of them have learned how to please our dark lord. Even the Nordic tribes with their human sacrifice have failed to ascend to true levels of appeasement in His eyes. Greece may have come the closest. Rampant sodomy, infanticide and prostitution made the heart of Greek civilization a debaucherous hellhole in which He was pleased. Thus, on this disgusting Friday on which you shall die, I bring you an album from Greek horde Death Courier. While normally I would bring you the blackest of metal, this production provides a blend of death and thrash. Sonically, it pleases Him.

Album Review: Blasphemic Cruelty – “Crucible of the Infernum”

Seven years after their debut LP, Devil’s Mayhem, avid Tampa Satanists Blasphemic Cruelty have returned with a new EP, Crucible of the Infernum. And luckily, their dark brand of death-laden thrash has not relented. All told, the EP is shockingly fantastic, and a particularly welcome surprise for those who may have thought the band no longer existed. Continue reading
