- Leading off, the battle for the rights to Entombed‘s band name appears to have been decided in favor of the non-“A.D.” contingent of the band — a.k.a. everyone other than possible-Tolkien-dwarf L-G Petrov. Hopefully that’ll be the end of this almost-as-stupid-as-the-two-Queensrÿches saga.

Good morning. It’s been a minute. But now that school and final exams are done for the semester, it’s time, once again, to metal. Here’s some news you might have missed from yesterday:

- Leading off with something I know will make our Literati Overlord happy, Behemoth frontman Nergal revealed that the band has started writing the follow-up to 2014’s The Satanist. Unfortunately, we’ll likely have to wait ’til late 2018 to hear it.

Quickies: Big news from Century Media, Sanctuary’s new guitarist, and more!

Only one more work day stands between me and… Behemoth (and friendship. Happy, Dan?). Hmmm. This is a good situation.

Some really depressing news to start off this Wednesday. Rumor has it, Century Media is about to be bought out by a major label. I don’t see how this could be a good thing.
You know who we haven’t shit on in awhile? Our buddy Frankie. Emmure was forced to cancel a show with Suicide Silence as a result of their vocalist tearing his vocal chords. You guys know the drill here.
Nick Cordle is the new guitarist of Sanctuary. If you guys remember, Nick Cordle used to be in Arch Enemy. And Jeff Loomis used to be in Sanctuary. Ya hear me?
I guess I should mention today’s latest tour announcements. Slayer will be hitting a few venues in between festivals between April and June. So there’s that.
I was tempted to share a ridiculous video of death metal Mary Poppins, but I think I’ll just link it instead. So, how about some Old Man Gloom?:

Quickies: 2015 Metal Alliance Tour, album sales, and a really cool new track from Barren Earth

Hey guess what? It’s snowing again! Fucking… blow me.

Let’s start with a tour once again. 2015’s Metal Alliance Tour will feature Deicide, Entombed A.D., Hate Eternal, and Black Crown Initiate. Holy… hell. Death metal for days.
It’s midweek… so I guess that means it’s time for some album sales. Really, not much I care about on here. We have some Marduk, Blacklisted, and Stick To Your Guns which all performed admirably.
How about another tour? Ensiferum and Korpiklaani will be touring North America this year. They’re hitting a small club in Boston, so maybe I’ll be curious enough to dabble.
I don’t feel like talking about news surrounding a new Slayer song, so instead I’ll casually mention that Jeff Loomis will be on the next Arch Enemy album. Good. I’m curious what his influence will be.
I’m feeling a little gloomy today, so how about a beautiful new track from Barren Earth?

That little number is called “A Shapeless Derelict” and I am very much a fan.

Anybody else still hungover from Thanksgiving Weekend? Yes? Thought so.

Russia is getting super weird on us. Somehow, they managed to ban Cannibal Corpse lyrics AND artwork. I don’t understand how this is possible. Freedom is still cool, right?
Dave Lombardo actually WANTS to be the next drummer for Megadeth. I don’t understand this thought process.
Faith No More played a gig at Amoeba Records last Friday. Better news, footage has made its way to the interwebs. Here you go.
Today is the Day have been forced to cancel a tour due to a serious van accident. Hope the best for these guys. Fortunately, it seems like everyone is going to be fine. Another reason Black Friday can go fuck itself.
