Sacred Reich
Sacred Reich

We do this every week and if your band or label wants to be included in future editions, or for other coverage, please reach out via ninecirclesblog@gmail.com – we’d love to hear from you. Our contact info is on the main page as well but hey, we’re all about keeping it easy. New metal for a new week so let’s get to it…

We’ve got Sacred Reich with their first full length in 23 years and if there’s even a thought that they might miss a step, dispel it immediately as their thrash metal is as on point here as it ever has been and that album art is sooooo skate deck ready. Boston sludgers Leather Lung offer up their third full length and it’s a dirty, nasty scorcher, Swamp Coffin dig on Nola-esque sludge as well as seedy death metal on their debut EP, and Swedeath veterans Sorcery slice and dice with the fury of a runaway chainsaw on their fourth full length.

All that and much more in store. Seek and destroy. Continue reading

Profile: Boston’s Seedy Sludgers Leather Lung

Leather Lung

To be clear, Leather Lung themselves are not seedy. However, their take on southern, whiskey soaked sludge meets the swing of delta blues is. Their upcoming album Lonesome, On’ry and Evil, tip of the hat to Waylon in case you missed it, is the band’s third effort and over the course of their last two they projectile vomited weed filled jams and caustic sludge that would make both Bongzilla and Eyehategod proud. And now, they’ve really come into their own with better, catchier songwriting and an unmistakable swagger that makes this one an easy highlight. Just ahead of the album’s release we had the chance to pose our set of Profile questions to the band so stick around to see how it all went down. And, be sure to hit that preorder while you’re here. Over the next several weeks, I am thrilled to announce that Nine Circles will be covering the Boston region of Wacken Metal Battle 2017. For those unaware, this is a regional competition that gives independent bands all over the world an opportunity to play at metal’s most prominent festival. For the first time ever, this battle has come to the United States and will feature bands from three different regions all competing to earn a single spot at WOA 2017. Continue reading
