Misthryming
Misthryming

Saw Cloak, Withered, and Goatwhore over the weekend. It was ridiculously good. I’m still tired. Alright then, new metal is on tap and plenty of it to go around so let’s do this.

Icelandic black metallers Misthyrming are upon us once again with second full length Algleymi and expect another knockout of an album full of living and breathing personality that is cold, intense, and perfectly temperamental. Next up is a cavalcade of crusty rawness on Hexhammaren, the seventh studio album from Martyrdöd, that comes off feeling larger than anything they’ve done to date – strong words but right around the second track you’ll understand. Steamrolling right along we’ve got New England’s nasty death thrash dealers Rancorous with their second demo Stealth Dominion and if early Slayer and Kreator gets your juices flowing then GET ON THIS. Last up top is debut full length De Val from Dutch black metallers Verwoed and not even their last two EP’s can prepare for this multi layered and heavily atmospheric assault, don’t miss it.

Killer top four and there’s a ton more below. Hop to it. Continue reading

The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 79 (05.11.2019)

playlist - mixtape

Welcome to another weekend folks.  I have relatively little gas in the tank, so to speak, so this Saturday couldn’t possibly come fast enough for me.  Whatever sickness wormed its way into my body has been taking its sweet time leaving, so today we’re keeping things short and sweet.  You all should know why you’re here, anyway.

Or maybe you don’t.  In which case: hi!  We put together a playlist of our favorite songs we’ve all been listening to over the past week, just for you, and we do it every Saturday.  Check it out below, and check back in next week to see what else we listen to in our free time.

Cheers!

Nothing like a Monday morning to bring you back to the realization that vacations just don’t last forever. Then it wouldn’t be a vacation. Which means….. completely lost that train of thought and just need coffee plus nobody cares. Anyway, we’re back with Vol. 46 of our weekly playlist and again have some fine specimens to offer up. Last week was so busy with sand, sun and other stuff that honestly it’s good to get back to the metal. Thanks to the fam for keeping things between the lines last week and if you missed any of that great content just go back and take it all in while you listen to what we’ve been digging. Subscribe to our YouTube channel here (if you did you would’ve had a sneak peek early) and we’ll be seeing you throughout the week. What did we miss? What have you been into? We’d love to know so leave them in the comments. Continue reading

Not sure about you but I’m still jamming Judas Priest’s Firepower and it still sounds freakin’ amazing. ICYMI, Chris discussed it right here. Come to think of it, there’s so many albums since January that I’ve yet to put down. Anyway, a new week dawns which means we’ve put together a whole new set of tunes we really dug into last week. Some new, some old and some not metal but they’re all good. So, grab that cup of joe — yes, that monster cup that occupies the biggest shelf in your cabinet — and hit the play button below. Also, don’t forget this is the last week of the giveaway for two vinyl copies of Fathers self-titled album, details on that here. Aaaand, subscribe to our YouTube channel here. Now, get after those tunes. Continue reading
