Eyehategod are celebrating 30 years of Take as Needed for Pain with a U.S. tour where they’ll be accompanied by Goatwhore. Not gonna lie, I would love to get to one of these dates. That run starts on April 8 in Atlanta, and includes a full performance of that album at Decibel Metal & Beer Fest in Philly.
Enforcer have set May 5 as the release date for their new album, Nostalgia. Their sixth studio album will be out through Nuclear Blast, and you can find a video for “Coming Alive” in the announcement.
When I finally give the latest from In Flames a break, I’m excited to check out Disintegrate. The new album from Oak is officially out tomorrow through Season of Mist, but you can stream it in full a little early here.
Speaking of tomorrow releases, Delain offered up a new track and video from their new album. Check out “Queen of Shadow” here, and be sure to give Dark Waters a listen tomorrow. That album is available through Napalm.
I gotta get outta here for the night, so let’s wrap things up with a new video from Arch Enemy for “Poisoned Arrow”. That track, of course, is taken from Deceivers, which is out now through Century Media. You can also catch Arch Enemy on tour pretty much everywhere BUT the U.S. over the next several months.

CANTO: Dawn Ray’d, Oak, Periphery, and More

Hammering this out quickly, because I actually have something to do after work for a change.

Leading off our Thursday, we have an update from Dawn Ray’d. Their new album, To Know The Light, is set for a March 24th release through Prosthetic Records. Give “Ancient Light” a watch and listen.
I know a few of us are excited about Periphery V: Djent is Not a Genre, so we’ll go to the full update from Periphery next. Their new album is out on March 10th through their own 3DOT Recordings, and they’re streaming a couple new tracks, titled “Wildfire” and “Zagreus”. Get all that good stuff through this link.
Experimental dark doomers Fvnerals dropped a new single titled “Yearning”, which can be heard here. That’s taken from the duo’s forthcoming new album, Let the Earth Be Silent, which is set for a February 3rd release through Prophecy Productions.
Symphonic metal veterans Kamelot are releasing The Awakening on March 17th through Napalm Records, and today they shared the first single from that effort. Give “One More Flag in the Ground” a listen here.
We’ll close out with the latest from Oak, something I am quite excited about. The video for “Disintegrate II” is available below. Their new album, Disintegrate, which is in actuality a single 45-minute doom metal pummeling, is out on February 10th through Season of Mist.

The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 261 (12.10.2022)

End of year is almost here. I’ve been spending the day clearing out all the albums from 2022 I know I’m not going to listen to again. It’s hard: some of those albums were pretty damn good, but I know my mind by now, and it’s the rare record that sticks around long enough to make a permanent addition to my collection. And while I was doing that I was finding some weird and fun music I’d collected over the years I hadn’t heard in a long, long while, so let’s make some room on this the 261st edition of the Nine Circles Playlist for some weird and loud noises thanks to bands like Ex Eye, Grip Inc., and New Keepers of the Water Towers.

You won’t need to bear my indulgence for long. The 9C crew brought the heavy down for you, including Jesus Piece, Conjureth, Hour of Penance, and Moonlight Sorcery. There’s some slightly older fare with the likes of Obsequiae, King Woman, and some crushing Godspeed You! Black Emperor. We go off the beaten path with Emma Ruth Rundle, Chapterhouse and New Order, but come back with some new Zeal & Ardor and much more.

CANTO: Cloak, Oak, Ahab, and More

Man, the gloomy weather the last three days has really messed up my vibe.

Anyway. To better things. Imperial Triumphant, Cloak, and Couch Slut are touring together early next year here in the U.S. With that announcement, Cloak also offered an update on their next album. Their third full-length should be out in the first half of the year through Season of Mist, and you’ll be able to hear some new material during this tour.
Ahab are releasing The Coral Tombs on January 13 through Napalm Records, and today they shared the music video for “Colossus Of The Liquid Graves”. It’s a beast. Their fifth studio album will mark their first full-length in eight years, so we should all have this one circled heading into the new year.
Fvnerals presented the second single from Let the Earth Be Silent, titled “Ashen Era”. Give that a listen here. That new album, by the way, is out on February 3 through Prophecy Productions.
We’ll close out Wednesday with another new track out of the Season of Mist camp. Oak is releasing Disintegrate on February 10, and today they unveiled “Disintegrate I”. Give the video for that track a watch below. I’ve gone through it a couple of times, and I’m obsessed. Just saying.

CANTO: Osi And The Jupiter, Deviant Process, Mamorlis, and More

I’ve done a really bad job at not drinking this year already.

Oak, the death and doom project out of Portugal, have signed on with Season of Mist. They’ll release their sophomore full-length album later this year. For an idea of what’s to come, give their debut album, Lone, a listen here.
One more from the Season of Mist camp today. Deviant Process shared a guitar play-through for “Emergence”. That track is taken from their new record, Nurture, which is available for purchase at this location.
Osi And The Jupiter is doing a small run of shows in the New England area, and I am super excited about it. They all fall next month, and you’ll be able to catch me at the Concord show on the 10th.
Lorna Shore are joining the Chaos & Carnage 2022 tour with the likes of Suicide Silence, Carnifex, and more. Those dates are in May and June, and tickets can be acquired here starting this coming Friday, the 14th.
We’ll wrap up Monday with the traditional heavy metal collective out of Portland, Mamorlis. Sturdy as an Oak is out independently on March 8th, and you can pre-order it on cassette here. Check out the first single from that, “Wolfric the Wild”, right below.
