What strikes you first about Child Bite is that this noise/hardcore band has so much charisma to spare. The band is magnetic in front of a microphone, and, in spite of a multitude of lineup changes, the core of vocalist Shawn Knight and bassist Sean Clancy has been unrelenting over its career spanning more than a dozen EPs and albums. Such is a feat for any band, and its return to Housecore Records (which issued 2016’s Negative Noise and several EPs) may give you a sense of how Child Bite has maintained that spark over time as is offered here on Burnt Offerings: Covers And Rarities 2010-2017. Donuts & CANTO: The Atlas Moth, Melvins, Tengger Cavalry and more!

April 27, 2017
Good morning, it’s time to metal. Here’s some news you might have missed from yesterday:
-
- Leading off, good news from The Atlas Moth: in a new interview with Yr Album’s a Sucker, frontman Stavros Giannopoulos revealed that the band’s new album is 75% done. Oh, and it’ll be out on Prosthetic Records. So, that’s cool!
CANTO: Eyehategod, Morbid Angel, and a new video from Clutch
“Spineless from the start, sucked into the part. Circus comes to town, you play the lead clown. Please, please, spreading his disease, living by his story. Knees, knees, falling to your knees, suffer for his glory. You will.”
- So this is a weird development. Phil Anselmo will be stepping in for Mike Williams at a couple of Eyehategod shows later this month. Huh.
- This aligns nicely. Morbid Angel have signed on with UDR Music and will have a new album out sometime in 2017. This aligns with MDF 2017… if you didn’t pick up on that originally.
- I really don’t like bringing up Five Finger Death Punch. Because they suck. But I’m also lazy, so here we go. After his meltdown on stage in Memphis, Ivan Moody has been working to get sober.
- Never far from the political issues that face us, Dave Mustaine has weighed in on this presidential election. He will be endorsing… nobody! I can get on board with that.
- Here’s a video for Clutch‘s “A Quick Death in Texas.” It’s neat.

CANTO: Aftershock Festival lineup, updates from Septicflesh, and a new video from The Oath
“I had this dream, our planet surviving. The guiding stars always glowing. And all the wealths, the fates of the countries, they’re all rebuilding at the same time. I never fell and always believed it. We could evolve and get older, open thy eyes and let all this flow in. Now see a new hope is growing inside.”
- The lineup for Aftershock Festival has been revealed. Tool, Slayer, and Avenged Sevenfold are headlining the thing with plenty other recognizable hard rock and metal bands, so that will be fun.
- Former Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward has formed a new band called Day of Errors. More information to come apparently.
- Machine Head released a new track recently called “Is There Anybody Out There” and in it Robb Flynn called out Phil Anselmo for being a racist weirdo. In response, he has apparently received thousands of death threats… nobody ever said the metal community was a logical bunch.
- Septicflesh is well on their way to following up Titan. The Greeks have announced a new album will be released sometime next year.
- The Oath have released a new music video for “Silent Dreams”. Check it out below, it’s kinda kickass.

CANTO: Down pull out of more festivals, Lacuna Coil’s new album details, and more!
“Wilderness will not claim the beast, nor civilized state deny its feast. Not gibberish of madman, hysteric chant of priest, nor lovers’ brutal sighs, lend the savage peace.”
- More backlash from the Phil Anselmo stuff from what feels like forever ago. Down have now pulled out of all European festivals.
- Dr. Know is on the road to recovery. But it took some heavy finances to get him there. A crowd funding campaign has been launched to help the Bad Brains guitarist with all that.
- Lacuna Coil fans now have something concrete to get excited about. It was recently announced that their latest album, Delirium, will be out on May 27th. Album artwork has been revealed as well.
- Another example of people getting butthurt over stupid things. Rotting Christ will be touring South Africa under a different name because, well, religious people. I don’t what that name will be yet, but I’m certain it won’t be as awesome.
- There were a number of new videos I could have picked from today. I went with InAeona‘s “Never Forever” because it wasn’t Trivium.
