And since this is my post, we’re going to start off with my favorite. The Ocean Collective unveiled a new track today, titled “Preboreal”. The lyric video for that track can be seen here. Not a whole lot of other information has emerged surrounding this, but it’s obvious something awesome is on the horizon.
This came through yesterday, but I wasn’t around so you’re getting it now. Death metal legends Obituary are releasing a new album on January 13 through Relapse Records titled Dying of Everything. Give “The Wrong Time” a listen here. It’s solid. Just my very unprofessional opinion.
I’ve been really into the new stuff emerging from In The Woods… lately, so we’ll head into the weekend with their new single titled “Master of None”. As a reminder, Diversum, is out on November 25 through Soulseller Records.
The weather’s turning colder, which means it’s time to wear a sweater…and jump into some extremity. Let’s not mince words and instead jump right into the 252nd edition of the Nine Circles Playlist.
We’re starting with new music from Ritual Dictates and Blind Illusion, and the the crew takes over with new Ingested, Ripped to Shreds and Mord’A’Stigmata. We also turn the volume down a bit with Touche Amore and Lantlôs before ramping it back up with Glassing and a whole bunch more.
North Dakota’s Phobophilic may be a new name to some but they’ve been mining the death metal underground since 2016 in the form of demos, EP’s, and fast moving recommendations from those ‘in the know.’ But now, they have a vicious debut full length, Enveloping Absurdity, and are set to turn heads all over the death metal sphere. Buke recently spoke with guitarist Josh Poer about the new album, how it came to be, some backstory, and a ton more. We now bring you this conversation in its entirety so grab your beverage of choice, a seat, and enjoy.
Second booster. Feel like shit (déjà vu?)…I’m not complaining, just stating the current state of my body at the moment. So let’s get to it for the 251st edition of the Nine Circles Playlist.
Kicking it off with a few recent discoveries for yours truly with new releases from Phobophilic and Toadeater (thanks BANGERTV) as well as a classic from Life of Agony. Then we have a blessing in the form of new freakin’ music from -(16)- as well as cuts from Gaerea, Yandere Chainsaw Regurgitation Factory, Frayle, City of Caterpillar (thanks Vince because I am loving this), and Panopticon, as well as music from Chat Pile, Wailin’ Storms, Foscar covering Alice in Chains, Devenial Verdict, and a host of classics from the likes of Yob, Cathedral, Baroness, and more.
