Soen, definitely a popular project in our Nine Circles ring, released a new video today for “Illusion”. That’s the third single from their fifth studio album, Imperial, which drops next week through Silver Lining Music. Just another highly anticipated release early in the year.
For this episode we go all in with most of the staff for our best of 2020 picks. We hit the high notes of what tickled our fancies for the year that was a shitstorm and even welcomed in a new member to the family. So, buckle up for an epic episode that has a wealth of stuff you may have missed and be sure to take notes, artists we mention need your support so open up those wallets and purses.
If you’re reading this there are two possibilities at play, either of which warrant a hearty congratulations:
It’s the end of the year, and you found the strength, courage and forbearance to get through the infested muck that was 2020. Congratulations! I don’t know what 2021 will bring, but let’s put the future aside for a moment and just revel in survival, and talk about some great music.
It’s an indeterminate time in the future, after the apocalypse, and the collective hive mind has integrated into the data streams and come across this post in a random search string query to ascertain various data points about the distant past. Congratulations! I’m not alive to know what the Time Lords have in mind for the future, but let’s put that aside for a moment and just revel in whatever constitutes life in your existence, and talk about some great music.
Welcome to another edition of our Saturday morning mixtape. This week, we have a ton of new singles from Unleash the Archers, Primitive Man, Black Magnet, and Full of Hell & Health. Plus, Chris gives us a triple dose of Fear, we throw a bunch of Rebel Wizard at you (because seriously Magickal Mystical Indifference absolutely rules), and much more. As always, listen below, and thanks for checking this out.
If you aren’t familiar with Rebel Wizard, I regret to inform you that you are required to have a good time and educate yourself immediately. Located at the intersection of black and thrash, this album hoons through the intersection like only an Australian wearing a wizard hat shredding epic solos while car surfing could. Magickal Mystical Indifference is the album that you blast through your open windows while taking corners too fast for the rest of the summer. I agree with the title of the first track: “Heavy negative wizard metal in-fucking-excelsis” indeed.
