A variety of death metal superpowers this week! That’s always exciting. It’s been kind of a weird weekend on a number of fronts, so putting this list together was the perfect supplement to my body’s futile attempt to process all the alcohol I’ve consumed. I will apologize, the list is a bit shorter than usual. Some of the Nine Circles staff are off doing a lot of life-things for whatever reason, so that trims us down a bit. Maybe some of you think that’s a good thing? We don’t care either way. You know the drill, past playlists can be found on our channel here, and this week’s can be activated directly below. Enjoy!

Donuts & CANTO: Rammstein, Meshuggah, Origin and more!

June 5, 2017
Good morning, it’s time to metal. Here’s some news you might have missed from over the weekend:
-
- Leading off, Rammstein‘s Friday evening set at the Rock Am Ring festival was cancelled as the festival was forced to evacuate due to concerns over a possible terrorism threat. Thankfully, nothing came of the threat and the festival was able to resume the next day.
CANTO: Dark Tranquillity, Allegaeon, Pentagram, and Scar Symmetry
“And I walked away, hoping you’d look back at me. And I walked away, into nothing. And she told me, don’t look in the mirror.”
- Let’s start with some album news from Dark Tranquillity. The Swedish death metallers have announced their latest album, Atoma, will be released on November 4th.
- Scar Symmetry have announced a North American tour with Arsis, Shattered Sun, and Painted in Exile. I’m into this, I’ve never seen Scar live, and I know a couple of those openers will kick ass.
- 45 years into their career Pentagram have finally decided to release a music video, and it’s for “Curious Volume”. I don’t actually care about their music, so I’m just going to link you to the clip and move on.
- Allegaeon released a new track today called “Gray Matter Mechanics – Apassionata Ex Machinea”. It’s also their first track with Riley McShane. Listen to it, you idiots.
- How about another new one from Spellcaster? It’s got an 80’s vibe that is working for me right now. It’s called “Night Hides the World”. A.k.a it’s the title-track from the new album.

The Nine Circles Podcast: Episode 45
The guys discuss an announcement from Immortal (minus Abbath) about the completion of their new album — and chuckle at the serious shade they throw at their former frontman. Plus, a new song from Rammstein and a tribute to fallen sporting hero Muhammad Ali.
All that and much, much more in Episode 45, so check it out!

CANTO: Immortal updates/drama, Scar Symmetry tour, and more
“Where has he gone? What have you done? A voice commands from high above this earth. From the soil his blood cries out to me. Murder, liar, vengeance, deceit.”
- Now here’s a band most of us probably have forgotten about: Scar Symmetry! They have announced an upcoming North America tour with Arsis, who kicks ass. Dates and cities still coming.
- And an update from Abbath-less Immortal, who have apparently finished recording their latest album. But of course they had to slot in an accusation that Abbath stole their work for his self-titled album. The drama continues.
- We all miss Dio. For those interested, you will be able to purchase “A Decade of Dio: 1983 – 1993” boxed set later this summer. The specific release date is July 22nd.
- Alissa White-Gluz has been busy… acting! The Arch Enermy singer will be playing the role of a female serial killer in American Murder Song. Which is a show or webseries or something I take it.
- Dark Funeral video for “Unchain My Soul” because why not.
