CANTO: Goat Torment, Suicidal Tendencies, Hammr, and More

Multiday hangovers are the worst.

  • This may fall more into the alternative rock category, but whatever. Grayscale have announced a headlining U.S. tour this coming November (and I guess December), with support from girlfriends, Cemetery Sun, and Young Culture. They’ve got some festival appearances as well, and a new record dropping on August 27th through Fearless Records titled Umbra. Busy times, apparently.
  • Let’s change gears a bit. Or a lot of bits. Belgian blackened death metal crew Goat Torment have signed on with Season of Mist. It’s been six years since Sermons To Death was released, but it looks like we’ll be getting their third studio album sometime later this year, which is awesome.
  • A little random, but a fun inclusion either way I guess. The So Cal Hoedown returns on September 18th, at Port of Los Angeles, and Suicidal Tendencies has been added to the lineup. I will not be going, but this looks like a fun time for anyone in the area.
  • Let’s check out “Forces of Sin”, the first single taken from Eternal Possession. The second album from Hammr will be released this fall through Hells Headbangers, with the LP release delayed until 2022. I’m going to keep an eye out as more details emerge for this one.

    • Let’s lead off with something that should make our Literati Overlord quite happy: Peter Tagtgren’s industrial project Pain has announced its first-ever North American tour. However, it’s not a very big one — just nine dates in all, supporting Orphaned Land.

Good morning, it’s time to metal. Here’s some news you might have missed from yesterday:

  • Leading off with some HOLYSHITAWESOME news: Gilead Media and 20 Buck Spin have announced that Migration Fest will be returning in 2018. That’s about all we know at the moment, but shit, that’s good enough for me. If you didn’t make it to the inaugural edition, you’d best course-correct next year.

Initial Descent: September 25 – October 1, 2016

Winterfylleth
Winterfylleth

Here we are at the dawn of October. One of the finest months of the year, obviously. What better way to kick it off than with a stacked list of metal that is as varied as the many horror movies you need to watch over the next 31 days. Anyway, Initial Descent knows you need it so, this week we have the amazing new album The Dark Hereafter from Winterfylleth, a jazzy avant-garde self titled debut from Brain Tentacles, Okkultokrati‘s Raspberry Dawn that is satan rock at it’s finest and of course Sorceress from everyone’s favorite target Opeth. For everyone still mad about the whole no death metal thing, news flash, they’re still great. Also Veilburner returns with their third full length of inherently evil and challenging black/death/experimental The Obscene Rite and Halshug cracks the earth in half with their brutal new album Sort Sind. Plenty here for you to enjoy so without further delay, get busy after the jump. Continue reading
