System of a Down have announced a live stream fundraising event to benefit Artsakh and Armenian soldiers injured in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict last fall. That event takes place on January 30th and will be followed by the premiere of the music video for “Genocidal Humanoidz”.
Detroit grind collective Shock Narcotic, which features current and former members of the likes of The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Black Dahlia Murder, Battlecross, and more, are readying themselves for a live stream performance on January 29th with Scour. Tickets are on sale now at this location.
Silver Lake, the solo project of Esa Holopainen (Amorphis), has just signed on with Nuclear Blast. It sounds like he dedicated much of 2020 to recording his first solo album, and I look forward hearing how it all came together. No apparent release date yet.
Post/doom metal project Crawl Below released a new video today for “Monument”. That’s a track taken from the upcoming new album, 9 Mile Square, which drops on February 12th. Pre-order it here, and check the clip below.
What a strange week! It’s been entertaining, if nothing else.
So this was unexpected. System Of A Down have momentarily put aside any internal issues to release two new tracks: “Protect The Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz”. The new material is meant to raise awareness regarding the situation in Artsakh.
This came through last Friday but I was too busy doing mountain things. But… holy shit everyone this Migration Fest lineup is absurd. Buried at Sea, Falls of Rauros, and Thou performing with Emma Ruth Rundle are the sets I’m most looking forward to. How about you?
And we will wrap up with a new video from Northwind Wolves. This one is for “Lord of Winter and Death”. A little symphonic metal on a Monday afternoon, I suppose. Their latest, Mountains And Darkness, is out now through Black Lion Records.
In today’s business news, Victory Records has been sold to Concord Music Group. I don’t have specifics, but the Billboard link mentions Victory pulled in up to $5 million per year and was probably sold in the $27-34 million range. Still, the punk label as well all knew it will be no more. I assume.
Finally, we’ll close with a new music video from hardcore/sludge outfit Minors. Because that’s pretty much what I need in life right now. The song is called “Garden of Dismalism”, taken from Abject Bodies, which is out now on Holy Roar Records.
