CANTO: Blind Guardian, Distant, Unsane, and More

Coming at ya a little later because everything is chaos.

  • Unsane have some West Coast tour dates next February. If a ticket link ever emerges, or if I manage to spend more than five seconds looking for one, we’ll be sure to circle back with that. Maybe.
  • If you want some deathcore fresh out of The Netherlands, spend a few minutes with Distant. Here is the video for the new standalone single “Human Scum”. They’re also on tour over in Europe, if you happen to be in those parts.
  • A second tour to announce today comes from Sleep Signals. The Death Do Us Part Tour with QUOR also includes a handful of West Coast dates, mostly in December. Tickets go on sale this coming Friday.
  • Plum Green was a recent discovery that I’ve really appreciated, so here’s a cover The Sisters of Mercy’s “Valentine”, over at The Obelisk. As a reminder, Somnambulistic is out now through Nefarious Industries.
  • Somehow I still haven’t gotten around to listening to The God Machine, but we’re still going to close with Blind Guardian. Below is the video for “Life Beyond The Spheres”. That album is out now through Nuclear Blast.

Archgoat

Saturday is synonymous around here with new metal but if you’ve been following along you know that already. This week was long and slow so I need this as much as you do, thankfully there’s a multitude to get to this week so let’s get after it. Leading the charge is our favorite Finns, ARCHGOAT, with their quick hitter Eternal Damnation of Christ. Two songs of black metal damnation…what? You’re worried about it only being two songs? It’ll be the best two songs of the week, period. Next up is the heavyweights of noise rock Unsane with Sterilize, it’s been five long years but this bludgeoning is worth the wait. Moving on is the monolithically inclined Monolord with their all killer-no filler doom metal on Rust and closing out the top slots is the wickedly nasty doom/black/death debut Cosmos Comedenti from Antiversum. Just because we’re done with the initial volley doesn’t mean we’re actually finished — far from it. So grab a chair and stay awhile, we have much to explore. Continue reading

June 9, 2017

Good morning, it’s time to metal. Here’s some news you might have missed from the last couple of days:

    • Leading off, Noisem have announced the departures of guitarist Yago Ventura, bassist Billy Carnes and vocalist Tyler Carnes. That leaves the Phillips brothers and new vocalist Ben Anft, also of Castle Freak. At least there’s a new album in the bag?
