Real hockey starts this week.

System of a Down have announced a string of tour dates… in Europe. Still, activity is activity. I would love to see them live again if the stars were to ever align in such a way. Oh, those dates are all next summer.
In today’s business news, Victory Records has been sold to Concord Music Group. I don’t have specifics, but the Billboard link mentions Victory pulled in up to $5 million per year and was probably sold in the $27-34 million range. Still, the punk label as well all knew it will be no more. I assume.
For those that missed it, Metallica had to cancel a tour while James Hetfield checks back into rehab. Obviously, we all hope he pulls out of this battle, but if there’s any bright side to this, it’s the support that’s been vocalized publicly by other musicians he’s had a positive influence on.
Finally, we’ll close with a new music video from hardcore/sludge outfit Minors. Because that’s pretty much what I need in life right now. The song is called “Garden of Dismalism”, taken from Abject Bodies, which is out now on Holy Roar Records.

Good morning, it’s time to metal. Here’s some news you might have missed from yesterday:

- Leading off, Brujeria have announced a fall tour with, for some reason, Voodoo Glow Skulls. Whom, you may recall, aren’t even remotely metal. Either way, dates are here.

Most people had today I off. I am not most people. What that means is that I had work today and I’m not happy about.

Katatonia is back in the studio (with a new drummer)! Dead End Kings came out way back in 2012, so the concept of new material is definitely welcomed. Sorry, the live and acoustic albums don’t count.
Another band preparing to drop some new material is Fleshgod Apocalypse. The Italian symphonic death metal group announced their latest installment, King, will be out early next year.
Album sales. Not a ton to focus in on. Puscifer is on there for those that give a shit. Def Leppard, too.
After all that drama, Victory Records is back on Spotify. Which matters to all the Spotify users out there. I am not one of them.
Most of us have probably already forgotten, but Lamb of God released a pretty solid album earlier this year in VII: Sturm Und Drang. Here’s a new lyric video for “Erase This” off of that very album.

I just spent the last several minutes reliving Halloween 2013. Which was when I broke my face. In full corpse paint. Good times.

Aborted have been banned from Dubai due to their obscene lyrics. They were supposed to play a Halloween show there, so that really sucks. But you think this would have been figured out earlier?
Slipknot‘s Jim Root had a custom guitar stolen while the band was performing in Portland. We say this a lot, but people really = shit. See what I did there?
More bad news today. Jesus. A Vital Remains show had to be canceled because of too much moshing. Really? It’s a metal. Do venues have a hard time grasping this concept?
We already talked about Victory Records’ beef with Spotify. Well, it turns out they are now suing Streetlight Manifesto for 1 million dollars. There are a lot of reasons as to why. I’m not listing them.

Halfway through a four day week. Why is it a four day week? Because I don’t respect five day weeks. And neither should you.

Disma have been pulled from the Netherlands Deathfest lineup due to their Nazi associations. The folks that run the event? Yeah, not they best day for them. Funebrarum will be added in as an alternative.
I’m sure none of us are done with the latest Danzig drama just yet. The victim released a new statement clarifying his original post. We get it, Danzig is an idiot and this fan is an instigator or something. We all lose.
The entire Victory Records catalog has been pulled from Spotify. There was a disagreement regarding some new Spotify terms that the label has yet to sign off on. I wish I cared more… but I just don’t rely on Spotify at all anymore.
Did anybody like Iron Maiden’s latest release, The Book of Souls? How about the epic “Empire of the Clouds” closer? Bruce Dickinson shared some thoughts on using that very track for a new one-off project.
