Things That Probably Disappointed Me In 2017 – Corey’s List

der-weg-einer-freiheit

Back in January, I introduced you all to a small handful of projects I was anticipating for the year ahead, setting the expectation that I would probably be disappointed as always. Well, now that December is fully upon us, it’s time to go back and review how I reacted to each of those releases. I made sure to avoid reviewing any of these albums (which wasn’t hard… I don’t write as much these days) just to prevent any spoilers. I guess I should remind you of my 2017 introductory post before moving ahead. All caught up? Great. Now… let’s see how it all went and decide whether or not I was disappointed.

Looking Back on the Tracks: Revisiting Chris’s 2017 Anticipated Records

railways tracks

Looking backward, what’s interesting isn’t so much how the albums I selected back in January as part of Nine Circles’ 2017 Metal Forecast held up (or didn’t), but how what I was looking for in music at the beginning of 2017 changed and mutated as the year went from bad to worse, from televised and networked insanity to personal tragedy and a gaze into the abyss that was closer than I had ever anticipated at this point in my life.   Revisiting the three albums that actually came out in 2017 now it’s striking how different the things I first imagined would be the draw fell to the wayside as new priorities and impact points made themselves evident.

Yes, I am aware we are over a month into Q3, but I really don’t know what to tell ya. We’ve been lazy. So, without further delay, let’s jump right into it. Album we missed in Q2 2017. Here. We. Go. Alright, so we spend a lot of time reviewing albums, right? And by ‘we’ I mean ‘the internet’, not just Nine Circles. But I’ve never expressed anticipation for certain albums before they drop. I mean, sure, between the podcast (R.I.P.) and the blog, we have at least kept you apprised on upcoming releases fairly consistently. However, as we kick off 2017, I want to focus a little more on the hype behind some of things soon to come our way. There are a number of albums slated to drop in the next year that I am unquestionably excited for. So why not introduce some of them? Below you will find five albums that I am highly anticipating in 2017. Better put, below you will find five albums or artists I really, really hope don’t blow it in 2017. I already spend way too much time in a state of disappointment. Continue reading
