It was an honor joining the Nice Circles team this year. I started a series of posts called A Headbanger’s Journey that I hope to continue into 2018. Late to the party, I bought an absurd amount of music at the end of the year, much of it from the excellent Nine Circles coverage and I’m just now coming up for breath. In 2016 I went back in time to investigate the early death metal classics of the late 80’s/early 90’s and this year, I did the same with classic punk and hardcore. Both of those genres inform my current listening and are reflected in this list. So, let’s see where the rubber hits the road. Continue reading
Fifteen days into 2018 and I’m already blown away by metal’s new releases and equally blown away by what’s to come. It was a busy weekend that was surrounded by a handful of these albums and by last night it hit me that I hadn’t listened to the same album twice (well, I did listen to that Pillärs album more than once). Yea, 2018 looks to rule, hard. Anyway, I need a weekend to rest from my weekend but bills and food and stuff, tough luck and back to work. Moving on, we’ve got another tasty playlist for you that should help wipe the cobwebs away so hit the play button below and don’t forget to keep up with us on YouTube right here. Continue reading
Its been a long time since I posted anything for Nine Circles. Of all the things 2017 has been for me, it has definitely been the busiest I’ve ever been. I joined more bands, recorded drums / vocals for other bands, art for my bands and other bands, PR for my bands and others, started a record label, and a bunch of other stuff. I miss being more active with Nine Circles but it looks like the current staff has been crushing it!
Anyway, the time has come for year end list. I love reading everyone’s lists and seeing what albums I might have missed or maybe need to check out again. I hope you find some new music in here you will enjoy. Continue reading

Everyone, slow down a bit and enjoy the season and yourselves. I say this because in a matter of a couple days, rounding up some groceries and random crap we needed, I saw at least ten people nearly kill each other either over a parking space or a shopping buggy — it was like watching MMA but for free. Come on guys, dig deep and find that inner peace. Or not and continue on as you were. Either way, seems like the best thing to do in the midst of all this craziness is barricade ourselves in with some tunes we all jammed on last week. Subscribe to our YouTube channel then head inside and let the barricading begin. Continue reading
