CANTO: The Lion’s Daughter, Armored Saint, Watain, and More

I just got infinitely more excited about seeing The Ocean next week.

  • When The Lion’s Daughter covered Judas Priest as part of their Turbo Covers EP, it went over pretty damn well. So, to celebrate their take on “Turbo Lover” becoming available across streaming platforms, they dropped a lyric video for the track.
  • Armored Saint are re-issuing three classics through Metal Blade Records. March Of The Saint, Delirious Nomad, and Raising Fear will be out on April 15th. Those we released back in 1984, 1985, and 1987 respectively, and have been out of print for some time. So this is a cool thing.
  • In other re-issue news, Cannabis Corpse are putting The Weeding EP back on vinyl. Originally released in 2009, the new pressing will be available on April 22nd through Season of Mist, and is available for pre-order here.
  • Terzij De Horde is popular around Nine Circles, so here’s a new track titled “Cheiron”. In One of These, I Am Your Enemy is out on April 8th through Consouling Sounds and Tartarus Records, depending on your preferred physical format.
  • Sure, we can wrap up with some new Watain. Here’s the lyric video for “Serimosa”, the second track taken from The Agony & Ecstasy Of Watain. That’s out on April 29th through Nuclear Blast.

CANTO: Amorphis, Abbath, Hatebreed, and More

I don’t even know where to begin with how annoyed I am… but at least there’s a lot going on today.

CANTO: Massacre, Earthless, Armored Saint, and More

Massacre

In case you didn’t notice, we’re big fans of the new Worm record around these parts.

  • We’ll kick Friday off with Earthless, who have announced some early 2022 tour dates. Tickets went on sale today for their run of 10 dates that beginning on January 27th in Los Angeles and end February 8th in Phoenix.
  • Armored Saint released their new CD/DVD Symbol of Salvation Live today, and to mark the occasion they revealed the video for “Spineless”. That one is out through Metal Blade.
  • Can’t find a way to attend Knotfest Los Angeles? Well, you’re in the luck. The performance will be streamed live, taking place on November 5th, and tickets can be purchased here. As far as Slipknot goes, this is their first ever live stream, and the footage will be available for an additional 72 hours after the show.
  • Crippled Black Phoenix are live streaming their Leipzig concert next Friday, October 29th. They’ll be joined by Jonathan Hultén for the event, which is awesome. Tickets for the event can be picked up here.
  • Massacre is always the right way to close a week. Side note: I’m only just now appreciating how incredible their logo is. Anyway, check out the gnarly new clip for “Return of the Corpse Grinder” below. The uncensored version was understandably banned from YouTube, but you can peep that here if you feel up to it. Resurgence is out now on Nuclear Blast.

CANTO: Goat Torment, Eternity’s End, All That Remains, and More

Cloak

“Heat… night devour me… repeat… repetition.”

  • Let’s kick Wednesday off with Goat Torment. The Belgian blackened death metal outfit are releasing their third full-length, Forked Tongues, on October 29th through Season of Mist Underground Activists. Give the title track a listen right here.
  • Hey! Another Season of Mist thing! Cloak are back in the studio, recording their third full-length. That’s an album we should expect next year at some point. But let’s also take this moment to remind everyone that they will be on tour with Demiser in October and November.
  • All That Remains are celebrating the 15th anniversary of The Fall of Ideals with a reissue. It’s set to release on November 12th on vinyl, with an accompanying tour and documentary. Pre-order it here. Side note: I can’t stand anything ATR these days for a number of reasons, but this album fucks.
  • Eternity’s End have signed on with Prosthetic Records, and have announced a new album. Embers of War is set for a November 26th release, and you can check out a guitar playthrough for the new song “Arcturus Prime” over at Gear Gods.
  • And we’ll wrap up the day with a new video and live album announcement from Armored Saint. Symbol of Salvation Live will be out on October 22nd through Metal Blade, and the live clip for the title track can be found below. Enjoy.

CANTO: Mono, Insomnium, Armored Saint, and More

Alright, after a some time off I think I’m finally getting the wheels turning again. Not at work, of course. But everywhere else, for sure.

  • This is from last week, but since I can’t get enough of Insomnium I’m going to share it anyway. The Finnish melodic death metal legends announced a new EP, Argent Moon, which is set for a September 17th release through Century Media. In conjunction, they also dropped a new track and video titled “The Antagonist”. Personally, I love the melancholy vibe of the last few singles I’ve heard. This band can do no wrong.
  • Armored Saint have announced fresh tour dates with Black Label Society and Prong. It’s a very brief run of five shows, all out west, from December 27th through the 31st. The only band I’ve seen live out of this bunch recently was BLS, and based on that alone I can confirm these shows are worth attending if you can manage it.
  • Bastardur, the crust punk project from Aðalbjörn Tryggvason (Sólstafir), has officially signed on with Season of Mist and announced new album details. Satan’s Loss of Son will be out on October 29th, and you can preview what’s to come with the new single titled “Viral Tumor”.
  • Let’s close out a very weird day with the new single and video from Mono, who I love dearly. This track it titled “Riptide”, which is taken from Pilgrimage of the Soul. That album is set for a September 17th release through Pelagic Records.
