Quickies: AC/DC, Lamb of God, Metallica and more!

Another weekend. Thank. Goodness. I’m about to head out for a drink or four, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t close out this week with our usual Friday edition of Quickies. Here’s what we missed out on today:

That’ll do it for this week–keep an eye out for Episode 10 and The Dump tomorrow!

MDF Mini-sode – Day 3 Recap: May 25, 2014

Maryland Deathfest 2014 wrapped up at the end of last night, and your co-hosts have returned (mostly) unscathed to share their thoughts with you! Give it a watch for our thoughts on Sunday’s performances from Gorguts, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats and everyone in between! Also, Godzilla! We left early to go see his new movie and weigh in on that at the end. Check it out!

As a reminder, you can also access our MDF Mini-sodes and all other installments of Horns Up through the following:

The Dump: Episode 6

Afternoon, everyone! Gotten your fill of Episode 6 yet? (If not…what are you waiting for?) Either way, welcome to this week’s edition of The Dump, where we amass all of the content we couldn’t physically share on the podcast itself. We’ve got some links, Spotify playlists and images (INCLUDING THE ALLIGATOR WRAPPED IN BACON, BECAUSE z0MG) Again, you’ll want to take a listen to Episode 6 to get the full story on everything you see here, but for now, check out what we’ve got this week:

  • “Only in Australia: Bacon-Wrapped Alligator with a Whole Chicken in its Mouth” (from FoodBeast.com)

  • Northmen: A Viking Saga (Official Trailer)

Fear Factory – Digimortal

Iron Maiden – Fear of the Dark

(For all new-release playlists, check out this week’s edition of Just the Tip)

Daily ‘Bang: Horns Up is on iTunes!

Metal Friday! As a quick heads up to everyone, we will unfortunately need to delay Episode 6 until tomorrow (Saturday) morning again, as my normal Thursday evening audio mixing routine was thrown out of whack by some guys calling themselves Mastodon, Gojira and Kvelertak. Maybe you’ve heard of them? Fret not, though: next weekend is Maryland DeathFest, and the content we’ve got planned around that should more than make up for the bumps we’ve encountered the past two weekends.

That being said, we’ve had some big news over the past couple of days, specifically related to how we’ll be delivering the episodes to you each week. Don’t feel like having a YouTube browser open to watch our videos? Guess what–you no longer need to, now that Horns Up is on iTunes!

That’s right–we’ve set up a PodBean account and RSS feed and been accepted by the iTunes Store, where we’ll be posting all of our episodes going forward. We’ve even added last week’s Episode 5 to get things started. We’ll still be posting video versions of each episode on our new YouTube channel, (that’s right, we’ve got one of those, too!) and embedding them right here on the blog–you know, just in case any of you out there are the change-fearing type.

SO, to recap, here’s where you’ll be able to get your Horns Up fix going forward:

  • iTunes – Click here, or open the iTunes Store and search for “Horns Up Metal Show”
  • PodBean – Click here
  • YouTube – Click here
  • The Horns Up blog – You are reading it as we speak.

Thanks again to everyone for listening, reading along, liking, following and [insert-other-verb-of-your-choice]ing so far! We can’t tell you how much we appreciate your support, and we hope you’ll continue to tag along as we build this thing out even further. Keep those horns held high!

Quickies: May 13, 2014

Big news from the Horns Up home front! We have officially been approved by iTunes and later this week Horns Up will be searchable, subscribe-able, whatever you want-able! More details to come in Episode 6, but get excited, people! Chug a beer, take a shot, or both!

However, I’m sure there’s more going on in the world outside of Horns Up. The question is, do we really care? Actually yeah, we kinda do. So, here are your Quickies for today:

I understand this album just came out, but it’s such an awesome piece. Anyway, that’ll wrap it up today.

(Yes, Agalloch’s “The Serpent & The Sphere” is awesome. And no, I wouldn’t fail to bring it up at least once on it’s release date.)
