CANTO: Mayhem, Mr. Bungle, Allegaeon, and More

Today has been, in a word, brutal.

Allegaeon have announced the second leg of their headlining tour supporting the release of Apoptosis. The dates are in October and November and focus more on the left side of the country. Support is in the form of Paladin and Inferi.
This news dropped yesterday and I totally missed it. Mayhem are releasing their sixth studio album on October 25th. The record will be called Daemon, and pre-orders start on August 30th. Somehow it has already been over five years since Esoteric Warfare dropped.
It’s been some 20 years since Mr. Bungle performed, and that streak is about to end. For three dates in February – the 7th in Los Angeles, 8th in San Francisco, and 10th in NYC – original Mr. Bungle members Mike Patton, Trevor Dunn, and Trey Spruance will be joined by Scott Ian and Dave Lombardo to perform The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny.
Ram have dropped a new video and single called “Blades of Betrayal”. This one is taken off of the upcoming new record titled The Throne Within, which drops on September 13th via Metal Blade.

CANTO: Megadeth opens big, Black Sabbath postpones dates, and more

Megadeth

It’s another Monday and nobody is happy about it.

Black Sabbath has postponed two shows due to Ozzy’s illness. It sounds like Ozzy will be fine and the dates will be made up efficiently enough. A bummer, but it sounds like it will all work out in the end.
Benji Webbe, lead singer of Skindred, was attacked over the weekend. In a seriously scary incident, he was slashed with a knife. It sounds like he will be ok, but the whole situation is really messed up.
Well, maybe Megadeth are relevant again. Dystopia opened at number 3 on the Billboard top 200. In a surprise to absolutely nobody, I still have not listened to it. And this won’t help that.
Phil Anselmo has apologized for his idiot remarks at Dimebash. Scott Ian, however, doesn’t think that is enough. He is calling on Phil to make some donations to prove exactly where he stands. An interesting development, for sure.
You know who we never talk about? Halestorm. Here is a new music video for “Mayhem.”

CANTO: Live Metalocalypse, Bodom lose Roope, and more

It’s late. Let’s not talk about it. I’ve already had to push an album review back to tomorrow (HI, ARCTURUS!) so let’s just get into today’s Canto and be done with it. Here’s what we missed in the metal world today:

Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small and Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian will be doing a one-off performance of Dethklok’s entire Doomstar Requiem rock opera later this summer. This might just be a thing I need to do.
Children of Bodom announced that they’ve parted ways with guitarist Roope Latvala. Which is probably something I would have been really upset about in 2003.
Some kind of hilarious Dying Fetus news: a doctor in the Netherlands is really upset about the band’s name appearing on the Fortarock festival poster, because said doctor is a ninny.
Megadeth bassist David Ellefson was doing some early cycle promo for the band’s upcoming album, and didn’t exactly give the new material a ringing endorsement. This will suck. Calling it now.
And finally, Animals as Leaders released a video for one of the standout tracks off last year’s The Joy of Motion. Check out “Physical Education” below:

Only a mere four days until Behemoth at the House of Blues! I’m not counting down or anything…

I guess I’ll get this nonsense out of the way. Scott Ian will be making an appearance on The Walking Dead this coming Sunday. He’ll be a zombie. And I’ll be a person that doesn’t care. Like usual.
Illuminate Me, a metal band out of Florida, is starting a petition to prevent Facebook from charging bands to increase their followers. It will amount to nothing, considering the money invested in Facebook is optional. It’d be like me petitioning against oil companies that charge me for keeping me warm. It’s a service. And services cost money.
Here is some footage of Killer Be Killed’s first live debut. Pretty good stuff right there. Yup.
More updates regarding the new Soilwork album. According to Björn Strid, it is going to be more intense than The Living Infinite. Ya know, that reminds, I should probably check that album out at some point.
Oceano released a new track called “Transcient Gateways” and it’s, well, rather aggressive:

Another Monday… third one this week. Two more days!

I’m more or less over talking about Russia, but here are some disturbing photos of a Cannibal Corpse show getting shut down. Fucking Russia.
Alright. So apparently Slipknot will no longer be burning camel shit at Knotfest. What a tragedy.
According to Scott Ian, Lars was almost fired from Metallica some 30 years ago. What could have been… better.
If you ever had any concerns about GWAR calling it quits, rest assured, that will apparently never happen. Ever. Thanks, Sleazy P. Martini.
