Busy week ‘round these parts last week. Hopefully we can keep that momentum, but if you missed anything do catch up. Moving on to the reason you’re here…new releases and we’ve got a ton for this week that kicks off with a trio of excellent death metal from Undeath, Sentient Horror, and Corpsessed, a wickedly good heavy metal outing from Skull Fist, and a long list of other releases that are equally worthy of your time. Feel free to let us know what we missed and if your band or label wants to be included here, get in touch via our info found on this site. We’d love to hear from you.

Best of 2019: Josh’s List
I know, you’ve come here in hopes of some diatribe about how my 2019 sucked ass or how I loathed a lot of stuff this year. But, if that’s what you came for look elsewhere. 2019 has been a good year for me on many fronts. My family continually prove to me that true beauty does exist, I have a great job that was extremely busy all year, I got to speak with a few bands I truly adore, I trimmed social media, I kept up with those who matter, and those who matter kept up with me. Oh, almost forgot, amazing bourbon was had along the way and we found a new local brewery with a top shelf IPA. One thing that hasn’t changed is the impact music has on my life and this list, my list, encompasses what raised the hair on the back of my neck. Buckle up buttercup. Continue reading
CURSED IMAGERY: The Week in Album Art (November 29, 2019)

Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! (Or a happy Thursday, for those that don’t celebrate, I suppose?) Anyway, as we’ve noted in previous editions, it’s the end of November — and that means, it’s the last new Cursed Imagery post of the year! That’s right, from here on out, we’ll be focusing on recapping our Best (Worst?) Album Covers of 2019. But before we get that far, we’ve got a few final new entries to satiate your eye-holes. So, let’s jump in!

Best of lists are flying out like gangbusters and we’ve still got so much good stuff coming out on a weekly basis that WILL be list busters. You doubt this statement yet haven’t looked below to see what’s in store; do that.
Sentient Horror makes the best American Swedeath ever, and with their latest they do that and so much more; it’s like a geographical map of the best death metal wrapped up in one album by some talented musicians – scrumptious. For their sophomore effort, Teeth ratchet up the grind aspect of their death metal and knocks it clear out of the park, The Wraith offer up a debut that’s gotten some serious mileage here at 9C for its combination of gothy deathrock and post-punk, and the band with the most umlauts ever, Öxxö Xööx, return with another epic movement of avantgarde, experimental doom that’s a vehicle for its mastermind’s dreams – don’t be curious here, just get it. In closing, I said there would be list busters and now it’s up to you to find them…Enjoy.

The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 99 (10.5.2019)
Hi, all. You may notice the absence of brother Vincent. He’s off finding a good cemetery to hide the bodies in…wait…I wasn’t supposed to… Anyway, let’s just say he’s predisposed with business. And, you’re stuck with me as your DJ or MC or whatever the hell you want to call me. It’s ok since I’m serving up some delicious jams that we, your lovely Nine Circles fam, have been spinning this week. Brother Vince has the filthy new Vastum, Buke has some straight up prog, I’ve got horrendous death metal, including the new Sentient Horror joint, and Chris has a vast platter of pickings – all of which are AMAZING and exactly what you need to get the weekend kicked off in style. But, it also serves as a soundtrack to any sort of witching hour deeds, so there’s that. No more chatter, DO IT…
