CANTO: Carcass, Abbath, Druids, and More

Busy times at 9C these days… can’t hate it!

  • So this latest Carcass tour is enticing. With support from Immolation and Creeping Death, they’ll be hitting the road through most of the month of May, starting on the 12th in Austin. Tickets can be scooped up this coming Friday.
  • Can’t wait until Friday to hear Dread Reaver in full? Well, I have good news for you. Abbath is streaming his latest album in full a few days ahead of the release date. Give it a listen here. Spoiler alert: it’s quite good. That one is out through Season of Mist.
  • RippleFest Texas revealed their full 2022 lineup, and it’s a good one. The Sword, Crowbar, Spirit Adrift, and The Obsessed, to name a few, are all coming together for what should be an awesome weekend. The festival is set for July 21st through 24th, and tickets can be acquired here.
  • Out of Pelagic Records, we have a new album coming from psychedelic metal collective Druids. Shadow Work is set for a June 3rd release, and you can stream the first track from that album, “Ide’s Koan”, immediately below.

CANTO: Tombs, The Crown, Solbrud, and More

I think I’ve already given up working for the week.

  • Tombs has announced a live stream event, scheduled for February 5th at 3:00 PM EST. Furthermore, it will be premiered through Bandcamp, the first such event to use the platform. You’ll be able to get tickets, merch, and all that fun stuff here… eventually.
  • The Crown are returning in 2021 with a new album. Set for a March 12th release, Royal Destroyer will be available through Metal Blade Records. Pre-orders are available here, as well as the new single “Motordeath”.
  • The Sword have also returned with a new track, kind of. It’s a live performance of “The Warp Riders”, taking from the 2010 album, Warp Riders. It was recorded as part of their Conquest of Quarantine lockdown sessions. Give it a watch right here.
  • Solbrud are releasing an audio/visual live album on Marth 26th through Eisenwald, titled Levende I Brønshøj Vandtårn. If you want to end your day with some pretty wild black metal, check out this clip for “Øde Lagt” below.

The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 61 (12.22.2018)

playlist - mixtape

Who knew when we started this thing that we’d be 61 volumes deep at this point. I don’t know but I do know that we just love it so there’s that. Brother Vince is off swashbuckling somewhere and probably killing his liver just a little bit more than usual so I’ll be your temporary host – miss me? I didn’t think so. Are we having fun reading all the best of 2018 lists yet? Yep, me too. AND, we will be hosting a few more of those in the coming days so stay tuned for that. Be sure to go back and check out what new blood J and Chris had to offer and you just might find something new or something you forgot about but shouldn’t have. After all, that’s the point. Anyway, you came for another loaded playlist and we’re here to be a blessing in that regard so hit the play button below. Oh and Merry Christmas or Merry Tuesday if you don’t celebrate. See you here next week.

Circle Pit: Albums We Missed, Q1 2018

purgatory

From time to time we all get together as a team and discuss some of our favorite albums we missed covering at release time. Whether due to time slipping away from us or whatever the case may be, we miss them. 1/17/2018. Took a couple days off. But then I got bored.

  • I haven’t heard from The Sword in a little while, so let’s start there. Their new album, Used Future, appears to be nearing release date.
  • How about Between The Buried And Me? They’ve been busy. New label: Sumerian. New album: Automata Part 1 (out March 9th). New tour: US, starting March 2nd.
  • You know who is a lot of fun? Andrew W.K. Apparently some dude got a speeding ticket while listening to a new AWK song… and AWK wants to pay the fine.
  • In today’s episode of “Holy Crap They’re Still Doing Things?”, Symphony X looks like they may try to piece together an album in the near future.
  •  Finally, here’s a video of Inter Arma doing cool things.
