The Nine Circles Playlist Vol. 251 (10.1.2022)

Second booster. Feel like shit (déjà vu?)…I’m not complaining, just stating the current state of my body at the moment. So let’s get to it for the 251st edition of the Nine Circles Playlist.

Kicking it off with a few recent discoveries for yours truly with new releases from Phobophilic and Toadeater (thanks BANGERTV) as well as a classic from Life of Agony. Then we have a blessing in the form of new freakin’ music from -(16)- as well as cuts from Gaerea, Yandere Chainsaw Regurgitation Factory, Frayle, City of Caterpillar (thanks Vince because I am loving this), and Panopticon, as well as music from Chat Pile, Wailin’ Storms, Foscar covering Alice in Chains, Devenial Verdict, and a host of classics from the likes of Yob, Cathedral, Baroness, and more.

Get listening. Stay safe. See you next week.

Krisiun

We’ve featured some best of mid year picks recently and thinking about those along with my own running list I keep throughout each year, it is absurd how much really good metal we’ve been handed thus far in 2022. I mean, ABSURD… in a good way of course. And, the last half is looking pretty damn good as well. So, there’s that. Speaking of good stuff, this week’s list of new releases offer up more of that from Krisiun, Triumvir Foul, Chat Pile, and Grima. As usual though, there’s a loaded list that follows these four that are certainly worth exploring. Go do that and we’ll be seeing you here throughout the week.

CANTO: The Contortionist, Lorna Shore, We Came As Romans, and More

I know I just referenced it yesterday, but we are officially one month away from Fire In The Mountains.

  • For now, we’ll stay focused on the items at hand. For example, The Contortionist have announced a headlining tour with Rivers of Nihil, with dates running this September and October. Tickets go on sale Friday at this location.
  • If you’re looking for a little noise rock in your day, check out the new stuff from Chat Pile. “Why” is available for your listening pleasure here, a track taken from God’s Country. That album drops on July 29th through The Flenser.
  • In the metalcore world, We Came As Romans have unveiled details surrounding their next album. Darkbloom will mark their first album in five years, and is set for an October 14th release through Sharptone Records. Check out the visualizer for “Plagued” here.
  • Hard rock quintet Wage War release Manic last October through Fearless Records, and today they shared a new live music video for “Godspeed”, taken from that album. Give it a watch here.
  • And we’re going to close out with the monstrous new track from Lorna Shore titled “Into The Earth”. Keep an eye out for Pain Remains, their new album which is set to drop sometime in October. More details to come, of course.

“Ein Bier… bitte.”
