He saw the light flash like a child’s sparkler on the 4th of July. It registered for an instant, then faded in the roar of the explosion reverberating in the open air. There was an odor that he couldn’t identify by name (it was cordite, not really used in gunpowder mixtures since the end of WWII) but instinctually knew. All of this happened in the space between synapses before his body acknowledged the impact of the bullet that – according to the laws of physics – he should have noticed before the sound of the revolver, or indeed the smell. As he dropped to the ground, consciousness slowly fading into the ether he had one solitary, lonely thought:

“What’s going to kick off the 275th edition of the Nine Circles Playlist?”

“The title track from the new Night Demon album,” a voice we only hear at the end of our life’s thread replied.

What’s the rest of the staff listening to? How about Boris, new Frozen Soul, Sortilege, Noxium Ferus, Lunar Chamber, Hideous Divinity, Paraphilia, Úlfúð and Afsky, not to mention the “correct” mix of a classic Megadeth song. CANTO: Suicide Silence, Cabal, Anthrax, and More

Hey! I just locked in a super cool show next week! It’s been awhile…

Speaking of shows, we may as well start with an awesome tour announcement. The Acacia Strain, Fit for An Autopsy, Full of Hell, and Primitive Man are covering North America next March. I, for one, can’t wait. Tickets go on sale Friday at this location.
Napalm Records announced a new signing in Death Dealer Union, the Los Angeles-based crew. They only have a couple of singles out to date, so we’ll keep an eye out as new material comes forward.
Anthrax and Black Label Society, with special guest Exodus, are returning for another round of shows early next year. Ticket go on sale Friday, and you can find them at this location.
I think this technically emerged yesterday, because Halloween and stuff. Here’s a new video from Suicide Silence for “Capable of Violence”. It’s very brutal and very much not a thing you should watch at work. That raises a question… Does NSFW still apply when you WFH?
And then closing out with another video, we have “Like Vultures” from Cabal. That track is taken from Magno Interitus, which dropped last month through Nuclear Blast.

CANTO: Exodus, Blind Guardian, Battle Beast, and More

Have I mentioned it was a weird week? Because it was a weird week.

I really enjoyed the most recent album from Seth, so let’s lead this off with the live performance of “La Morsure du Christ”, the title-track from that album. If you still need a copy of that one, it’s out through Season of Mist.
New Blind Guardian! Check out the video for “Secrets Of The American Gods” here. That performance video was captured during the recording sessions for their new album. Meanwhile, I’ll continue to wait patiently for more information to emerge…
Battle Beast was kind enough to share a new single with as well. Featured as a bonus track on Circus of Doom, “The Lightbringer” is now available as a standalone single, and available for your streaming pleasure here.
Black metal legends Blut aus Nord have revealed details behind their 14th album. Disharmonium – Undreamable Abysses will be out on May 20th through Debemur Morti Productions. Check out “That Cannot Be Dreamed” over at Decibel.
It would be a poor choice to not close out the week with the latest from Exodus. Check out the clip for “The Fires of Division” below. Pre-orders are up for Persona Non Grata, out through Nuclear Blast, and I know you know what to do with that information.

CANTO: Testament, Gatecreeper, Haunter, and More

The times… well, they certainly are a-changin’.

We’ll start with a quick one. Testament has announced their new drummer. Dave Lombardo is back, and that is definitely an awesome thing. Be sure to catch them on tour this coming April and May with Exodus and Death Angel.
From there, we have a couple of notable tours to share today. First, we have Gatecreeper. They have April and May dates lined up with Narrow Head, 200 Stab Wounds, and Fearing. Tickets go on sale this coming Friday at Gatecreeper’s website.
And then Whores, Bummer, and Capra are touring the United States this coming June, kicking off on the 1st in Nashville. I’m telling you right now… that’s going to be a super fun show.
Texas progressive death/black metal collective Haunter is releasing Discarnate Ails on May 6th through Profound Lore. Check out a segment of the closing track, “Chained at the Helm of Eschaton”, right here.
Closing out what has been an absolutely wild Tuesday with the new track from Hell Militia for “Lifeless Light”. Hollow Void is set for a March 18th release through Season of Mist Underground Activists.

CANTO: Behemoth, Thulcandra, Insomnium, and More

All kinds of new shit to share today, and work still fucking sucks for those wondering.

We’ll start with Behemoth, who have announced the release of In Absentia Dei, the streaming event from last year that was performed in an abandoned church. That will be out on December 17th through Metal Blade, and you an check out the first single, “Evoe”, right now.
For those that have the ability to get to Northwest Terror Fest, I recommend that you make that happen, for I cannot. The lineup for 2022 features Panopticon, Ludicra, Repulsion… etc, etc. Honestly, it’s absolutely stacked. Tickets can be acquired here, but I expect them to go quickly.
Exodus dropped the second single (with lyric video) from Persona Non Grata, titled “Clickbait”. Just a casual reminder that the new album drops on November 19th through Nuclear Blast.
I’m also going to throw in something I completely (and stupidly) missed earlier this week. And that, of course, is the news from Thulcandra. It’s been forever since Ascension Lost, but I’m happy to share that a new album, A Dying Wish, drops on October 29th through Napalm Records. Check out the new track, “Funeral Pyre”, here.
We’ll close with the latest video from Insomnium, because that will let me cruise into the weekend on a high note. Below you’ll find the clip for “The Wanderer”, the latest track taken from Argent Moon. That EP is officially out today through Century Media.
