Visions ov Hell: Quarantined With Nine Circles, Part 2

Coronavirus bah

Two weeks removed from Part 1 and we’re not out of the woods. And, quite to the contrary, we’re in the thick of it. Threat level 100….I guess. So much uncertainty, so much unknowing, so much virus, so much panic, so much hoarding, so much of all the bad stuff. We’re all tired of the ‘so much’ and it seems this thing is just getting a head of steam. Anyway, we’ve got a nice set of tunes to help push back the virus scares and bring forth the headbang; we’ve got Death, Obituary, Eyehategod, WASP, Katatonia, KISS, Mortician, and so much more. Indeed, all the bands you’d hold dear when trying to exorcize some demons and/or some asshole virus. So, jump inside that play button immediately below and try to forget, for just a second, what’s happening outside our windows. Maybe, just maybe, you find some sort of normalcy for a fleeting moment.

Visions ov Hell: Quarantined With Nine Circles, Part 1

Coronavirus bah

While many of you feel as though we are at a threat level shown in the image above, we certainly are not. Unless you’re searching for toilet paper or antibacterial gel and then, all bets are off. But seriously, tons of us are fighting with social distancing, schools being called off, stores baring less and less, restaurants and local bars calling it a day for awhile, and the barest of essentials unrelated to the virus being scarce at best. Thanks hoarders, we’ll be sure to flay your skin first in the next major pandemic. Anyway, while you’re at home, we understand there’s a huge need for entertainment and far be it from us to keep you from it. Consider this Part 1 of a need to keep the good times flowing with everything from Khemmis covering Dio, ACxDC’s new one, Warbringer, new Witchery and beyond. Plus, we’re hoping the new Black Crown Initiate will make Buke smile. Enjoy and stay safe, friends.

Visions ov Hell: Battalions – “Forever Marching Backwards”

Battalions - Forever Marching Backwards

Why yes, I am aware it’s Saturday and there’s no Playlist. My fault totally, I forgot to ask the gang their picks for the week – sue me. But we’ve got one hell of a great track in store today via the UK’s groove laden riff mongers Battalions. They’re not a new band but you already knew that right? Riigghht. Anyway, they’ve been around now for roughly eight years and have a pair of wicked albums under their belts. So what’s new and why the mention? Glad you asked. They have a new album, Forever Marching Backwards, due out November 30 via APF Records and recently released a video for the title track which is what we will be taking a look at for this edition of Visions ov Hell. Happy Saturday and long weekend. Continue reading

Visions ov Hell: Qoheleth – “SXSG”

qoheleth - sxsg

They say that bad times make for great art, and while I don’t dispute the claim, I sure wish we didn’t need to turn the world into a garbage fire of greed and hate in order to get some great records.  We don’t, of course: plenty of great music comes from places not embroiled in the dark and cold recesses of humanity’s id, but Qoheleth have taken the fires that have stoked the outrage and protests of the last year and half and crafted a monster of an ambitious record in Black Kite Broadcasts, the follow-up to last year’s monolith of noise God Is The Warmest Place to Hide.  To that end Nine Circles is proud to once again be the place to premier a visual track from the new record as well as highlight the efforts of our friend and co-contributor Jeremy Hunt, so let’s get right into the mayhem of “SXSG” after the jump. Visions ov Hell: Hallatar – “Mirrors”

Hallatar - Mirrors

Welcome to Monday, let’s get our doom on, shall we? For this Visions ov Hell edition we are taking a look at Hallatar‘s first video “Mirrors” which is from their upcoming full length No Stars Upon the Bridge. It’s a video, and song, that matches the dark and heartbreaking story of the band’s creation and the need to highlight the life of a loved one and is some of the most heartfelt doom metal you’re likely to hear. Check it out after the jump. Continue reading
