Hello, friends! It’s that time again. (Well, technically, it’s two-days-past that time again, because the first of the month fell on a Saturday and nobody really wants to read blogs over the weekend.)
In any case, it’s May now! And with April dead and buried, it’s time to look back at its album art lowlights. We’ve got ten fresh picks for you to sink your teeth into… and then promptly spit out because they taste several-weeks-past-their-sell-by-dates. Let’s jump on in, shall we?
Man, we’re already a quarter of the way through the year? What the hell, man. The time, it flies. I think the highlights of 2021 so far have been: getting vaccinated, reading 10 books and counting (which, I think, is fully half of the quota I committed to on Goodreads — whoops!), and somehow managing not to overspend on LEGO. There’s also been some music, too, I guess.
Anyway! It’s a new month, and that means we’ve got some ridiculous album art to discuss. Let’s jump in!
Welcome back! It’s a new month, and you know what that means: time to look back at some funnies from the old month. And fellow art criticism aficionados, let me tell you: despite being the shortest month of the year, February 2021 was absolutely stacked for ridiculous album covers. The more-than-1000 albums / singles / EPs released over the last 28 days (per Metal-Archives) yielded a “long list” of 30 albums. And man, it was difficult as shit whittling that list down to the 10 that ultimately made the cut. Do not think for a minute that the following albums are the only ones worth giggling over this month; February was a veritable treasure trove. These just happen to be the best of the best.
Hey, it’s this thing! Remember this thing? You probably don’t, because as is the case with most of my “contributions” to this site, it’s been more than a year since I did anything with it. Originally, Cursed Imagery was a weekly segment that celebrated (read: shitposted about) ridiculous album covers from across our beloved metal genre. It ran for about six months in 2019, and then promptly died. Until this moment, that is — until its rebirth as a monthly segment that will shitpost about ridiculous album covers from across our beloved metal genre. For as long as I can keep it going, anyway. (All bets are off.)
Anyway, enough words. It’s a new month, so let’s take a look back at the old month. Here are our album cover, er… highlights… for January!
Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! (Or a happy Thursday, for those that don’t celebrate, I suppose?) Anyway, as we’ve noted in previous editions, it’s the end of November — and that means, it’s the last new Cursed Imagery post of the year! That’s right, from here on out, we’ll be focusing on recapping our Best (Worst?) Album Covers of 2019. But before we get that far, we’ve got a few final new entries to satiate your eye-holes. So, let’s jump in!
