So for those unaware, I’ve been in the middle of moving all fucking weekend and was just about to run out of patience and snap when… I felt it was high time for today’s Side-Splitter.
For those unaware, Slayer is continuing to pump out absolute garbage. Now, I could devote this entire Side-Splitter to recent Slayer tunes, but that wouldn’t be fair, or really all that interesting. Remember the Quickies from May 27th? With that ridiculous cover of “Raining Blood” on banjo? Of course you do. Follow-up question: You also remember “War Ensemble” from way back when, right? Again, of course you do.
Same guy, another hilarious gem of a cover. The headbanging and facial expressions, while playing “War Ensemble” on a UKU-fucking-LELE, absolutely make this a killer. I actually find this more amusing than his “Raining Blood” cover. Probably because I find the ukulele more comical than a banjo. And Hanneman’s riffs somehow STILL sound good even on such a stupid friggin’ instrument. What makes this the most fun is listening to the original version immediately before this cover.
In all reality, this guy is pretty damn talented. That can’t be an easy task. Gotta give some credit. He actually made a ukulele interesting (well, as interesting as it could be). And “War Ensemble” is arguably one of my favorite Slayer tracks. So my appreciation definitely holds some value. Even if it is comedic appreciation.
Oh right, info about the song. “War Ensemble” is off of Seasons In The Abyss, which came out in 1990 and is basically a dope album as a whole. Everyone feel educated now?… I don’t care. Just get a laugh out of this and enjoy the rest of your Sunday. Thanks.
“Ein Bier… bitte.”
