ghost papa emeritus iii

It’s no secret that Ghost’s new album has metal fans and rock fans falling to their knees and praising Papa Emeritus III as the savior of metal. So while people are going ga-ga over the band, and Dave Grohl is announcing that he has previously drummed for them, the band has released a video. The video is for a track off their new album Meliora, entitled From the Pinnacle to the Pit.” And it’s a damn good video.

Filled with hand drawn graphics, lightning and ghostly resurrections, “From the Pinnacle to the Pit,” is not your classic Ghost video. Where the past saw gimmicks including excessive nudity, ritualistic dining and other campy effects, their newest video, directed by Zev Deans, is more a work of art than a Ghost performance. And the band should certainly benefit from a showcase of their music over their act.

The video spans the tracks four minutes and sixteen seconds and includes scenes from movies, helpful subtitles that frame the plot and a city of Gotham-like proportions. Without destroying the surprise ending, the video gives the fan a glimpse into the birth of the newest incarnation of Papa Emeritus III. So enjoy this one, it’s not every day that a video has this much detail and creativity.
