It’s Thursday, and I finally have an evening off! Oh wait, no I don’t–I’m mixing down Episode 7 so that you kiddies can have something to listen to tomorrow. Such is the glamorous life of a heavy metal blogger/podcaster. (“Blogcaster?” I don’t hate it.) Anyway, here’s what we missed in the world of metal today:
- With plans for a third album already underway, Ghost (Call them “Ghost B.C.” and I will END YOU. Seriously.) are, naturally, preparing to replace frontman Papa Emeritus II. And by “replace,” they of course mean “give the same guy another new costume.”
- Marilyn Manson will be making a guest appearance in the next season of Sons of Anarchy, playing a white supremacist named Ron Tully. This could be interesting, but I don’t really think anything will ever top his Kenny Powers imitation.
- Can a prominent metal culture lead to economic prosperity? Apparently, someone, somewhere in the universe, thought to compare these two factors, because a new study is out suggesting that, indeed, it can.
- New jam alert! Check out some just-released singles from Septicflesh and Goatwhore!
- And finally, almost 26 years after the song first appeared on …And Justice For All, Metallica finally gave “The Frayed Ends of Sanity” its live debut last night at the Sonisphere Festival in Helsinki.
The quality’s not the best, but there’s still more bass than we got on the studio version! (Because LOL-fuck-Jason, naturally) Anyway, that’ll do it for this edition. Check back tomorrow for Episode 7!
