Comin’ atcha a bit late with this one, so let’s not waste any time–it’s another round of Quickies! Here’s what we’ve got for ya from Thursday, June 19:
- Decidedly not-metal singer/guitar virtuoso Jon Gomm played the Download Festival last weekend, and had some pretty nice things to say about the heavier-minded fans he encountered there. This guy wins.
- I don’t really care what the actual point of this article is; WHY THE FUCK ARE AVENGED SEVENFOLD GETTING THEIR OWN VIDEO GAME?
- Battlecross have announced both a tour and plans for a new album. I don’t really listen to these guys; I just wanted to post this because they’re playing both my hometown and college town, which…never really happens. (Which towns do I mean? You’re on your own there.)
- Pennsylvania prog/deathheads Black Crown Initiate have signed with eOne Records. When you factor in their recent addition to the Septicflesh/Fleshgod Apocalypse tour, it’s been quite a couple of weeks for these guys. Well done.
- And finally, some guy sang Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” in the style of Type O Negative for some reason. Haven’t heard the original and don’t really have any basis for comparison, but the dude doesn’t do a bad Peter Steele. Check it out:
Anyway, that’ll do it for now. Check back tomorrow for Episode 10! And, you know…more Quickies.
-Dan
