Little bit late on this, with Corey unexpectedly being summoned to Boston for work things today. Oh well, such is life. Here are your Quickies:

• The Slipknot Gray Chapter hype train has finally rolled into the station and it appears all of the “marketing” “work” they’ve done around the album over the past few months paid off: the band scored a No. 1 debut. It’s got all the chart positioning of All Hope is Gone and none of the quality!
• Daniel Radcliffe (you likely know him as “Harry Potter”) says he played Megadeth’s “Sweating Bullets” to get into character for his new movie, Horns. So if Dan starts yelling random nonsense about Obama or Benghazi in any upcoming press junkets, that’s probably why.
• Deafheaven are teaming with Converse to play and promote a series of free shows around the country. That November 19 date at MHoW is looking like a fun possibility.
• Apparently Corey Taylor almost became the frontman of Anthrax but didn’t become the frontman of Anthrax but almost did so hooray, people care and story quota filled!
• And finally, something called Black Map released a new video today. Here it is.

I stopped listening after 30 seconds, because these guys don’t know how to rhythm. But it was this or Howard Jones’ new band and I sure as shit wasn’t about to start promoting that, so here we go. Anyway, that’ll do it for Quickies. Check back tomorrow for more!
