Firespawn - Lucifer Has Spoken

Every Friday, we ask you to “Wake Up and Smell the Satan” — you know the drill by now. Well with the weekend now over, what better way to kick off the work week than with more Satan? For this week’s Visions ov Hell, we’re taking a look at the recently-released video for “Lucifer Has Spoken,” the debut single from Swedish death metal troop, Firespawn. The band comprises likeminded individuals from Necrophobic, Skineater and Entombed A.D., to name just a few, so you know we’re in for a treat here. Let’s dive in.

The single is interesting in that it doesn’t have your typical Swedeath sound to it. Rather, it’s got a nice melodic sensibility and a massive helping of groove that you can’t help but get your neck swinging to. But that all being said, this video…

We begin looking at a church, with quick visions of pentagrams. The band is performing within, and the imposing figure that is vocalist L-G Petrov asserts himself with a “come-at-me-bro” stance. The band members headbang along in sync, and the blueish hue to the shots lends a feeling of coldness. It’s as if you haven’t quite made it to hell, but know it won’t be long.

As Petrov growls “Lucifer has spoken!” the church begins to crumble around the band and the blue hue suddenly vanishes. Fire envelops the church, and just as guitarists Fredrik Folkare and Victor Brandt launch into a trade-off guitar solo, a familiar figure reveals himself? Who might that be, I wonder? Watch the video for yourselves and find out:
