It’s no secret that pretty much everyone that writes here at Nine Circles is in love with Behemoth. Particularly, their 2015 release The Satanist (which was my album of the year for 2014). Finally, the band has finished production of a video for their title track. Featuring the typical Behemoth occult references, the video has a simple plot and highlights the auditory brilliance of the track (as it should). And, if you haven’t heard The Satanist yet, where have you been?
Directed by fellow Pole Andrzej Dragan, the video for The Satanist primarily features a plot of Nergal playing the role of conductor. He is reclined behind a simple desk using some vintage technology (which may potentially be modern technology for Poland) to possess and torment a gaunt woman walking the streets of Poland (which, again, may be commonplace for Poland). This is interspersed with a typically costumed Behemoth (full band) performing fire rituals with skulls and/or playing chess with the devil.
Unafraid to alter the audio of their song for purposes of the video, effects are employed to enhance the visual experience. For example, sirens are added to the beginning and, for a brief moment, the audio is muffled as the viewer takes a ride inside the poor woman’s brain. There isn’t much to say except that this song rules and the video is a pretty fun way to experience the track. Check it out here.
