Album Review: Abigail/Shitfucker – “Bloody Your Lovely Pussy (7″)”

Offended yet? If you are, you’re playing right into their hands. It seems that Shitfucker is nothing more than a band of internet trolls making garbage blackened thrash and doing everything they possibly can to offend people. Japanese rockers Abigail (same band as Barbatos) is joining the party for Bloody Your Lovely Pussy. Despite their attempts at drawing the listener in, the assumption is the listener will quickly depart due to a lack of actual, listenable music.

The A-Side tracks are both from Abigail. There is the title track and “Power of the Demon.” Both are essentially black n’ roll that is almost identical to the work on Barbatos. The main difference being the lack of guitar solos. But the recording and the musical ideas are essentially the same. If you don’t recall, Barbatos put out an LP earlier this year entitled Straight Metal War (which we wrote about here). So, the assumption is that these two tracks were left on the cutting room floor and thus released under the Abigail moniker. Which wouldn’t be shocking since Abigail has put out enough albums (mostly splits, EP’s and live compilations) to fill their own record store.

Shitfucker continues their long line of offensively named and shock value releases. As an example, their only full length to date is their 2013 release Suck Cocks in Hell. Which might not be a bad place for their next show. The B-Side features Shitfucker exclusively and suffers for it. Shitfucker do not make music worth repeating. Their two tracks, “Black Mold” and “Under the Influence (of Satan)” are tinny, two-track sounding recordings of what is essentially blackened death-thrash. Their music is rote, formulaic and simply uninteresting. A great background album or a great record cover to piss  your parents off, Shitfucker don’t provide much else.

The cover art is horrific. Intentionally meant to be offensive. Further, Shitfucker have employed their trademark “Shiswastifa” which is apparently their take on the swastika (illegal in Germany and other countries for a reason). The goal is to shock the audience into purchasing the work. The artwork, offensive symbols and silly name are definitely enough to raise some eyebrows but the music simply doesn’t back any of it up. If you’re going to be offensive for the sake of offensive, please back it up with decent music. As it is, Shitfucker and Abigail are essentially a waste of time and energy.
