Receiving the Evcharist: Weapönizer and Two Hearted

Receiving the Evcharist

Welcome back true believers.  We’ve got an absolute rager for you tonight.  One whirlwind of an album coupled with one of my all time favorite brews.  Let’s set it off.  The Metal: Weapönizer’s Lawless Age.  The Booze: Bell’s Brewing Company’s Two Hearted IPA.

The Metal: Weapönizer’s Lawless Age

Weapönizer - Lawless Age

Sometimes you see an album announced and you just immediately know it’s going to kick ass.  For me, when I saw the announcement for Weapönizer’s latest full length Lawless Age, which featured sick-as-hell Ariel Zucker-Brull cover art and musical comparisons to anarcho-punk and war metal, I knew this was gonna be an album I had to watch out for.  Lo and behold, Lawless Age delivers for me on all it promised.  There is a particular kind of swagger to tracks like “Hellbound” and “Iron Clan Exiles,” which deliver blistering riffs and breakneck-paced drumming that deliver the mosh pit fun of crossover thrash with the spikes-and-sunglasses aggression of black and death metal.  Everything about this album is a raging good time.

The Booze: Bell’s Brewing Company’s Two Hearted IPA

Two Hearted is a beer that has been a favorite of mine for quite some time now.  It took me a while to find it when I moved to Southern California, but when I did it was like meeting an old friend again.  An American IPA, Two Hearted is rich in body and smooth, with notes of pine and bitter citrus gently kissing the palate, which are my favorite flavors to have in an IPA.  The balance here is impeccable, creating something crisp, smooth, warm, and comforting.  Two Hearted is guaranteed to become one of your favorites too.

There you have it.  My recipe for a good weekend.  Here’s hoping yours is filled with just as many good tunes and tasty drinks.  Until next we meet.

Cheers, and be good to each other,

– Vincent
