Receiving the Evcharist is our weekly feature where we pair choice albums with our favorite libations. Drink from the cup of heresy. This week’s offering: Warbringer’s Weapons of Tomorrow and Trustworthy Brewing Company’s T-Shirt Weather.

The Tunes: Warbringer’s Weapons of Tomorrow
One thing I definitely don’t talk enough about on this column is my love for thrash metal. And that’s because my love for thrash metal is…kinda hot and cold. It was the genre of music that got me into extreme metal in the first place as a young, spry lad, cutting my teeth on copies of Master of Puppets and Peace Sells… gifted to me by family, and yet the thrash I see these days hardly ever lives up to that legacy. Its a rare treat that I find a thrash album that reminds me that I really love thrash, and Warbringer’s Weapons of Tomorrow is just such an album. A pefect roller coaster of viscious riffs, tight drumming, and all the over-the-top vocals you could possibly want, wrapped up in a sweet dystopian sci-fi package. Not since Power Trip’s Nightmare Logic have I found an album that makes me want to circle pit this hard.

The Booze: Trustworthy Brewing Company’s T-Shirt Weather
Back in alcohol land today after last week’s sojurn into the land of Hop Tea, I’m very happy to shine a spotlight on another ultra-local (read: about 15 minutes down the road from me) brewery in the form of Trustworthy Brewing Company and their T-Shirt Weather pilsner. T-Shirt Weather stays true to its sunny origins by taking sweet, floral pilsner and injecting some dank, citrusy notes through a slight hopping process. The result is something that feels very quintessentially California in execution, light and sunny, refreshing and easy-drinking. Perfect for its namesake season.
