Time for another Throwback here at Horns Up! This particular Thursday, September 18, happens to be the 44th anniversary of legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix’s death in London.

If you play guitar–or even if you just listen to rock music in general–you’ll have known what a legend Hendrix is for some years now. Incredible improviser; revolutionized use of feedback, the whammy bar and other techniques; etc. TL;DR. You can’t say enough about the guy, and yet by now, you also can’t really say anything that hasn’t already been said. So I won’t. Instead, for today’s #TBT, let’s take a look back at his performance of “Foxey Lady” from the Miami Pop Festival in 1968:

Rest in peace, Jimi. Or rather, keep on resting in peace, I suppose. It’s been 44 years, after all.
