Well, we’ve done it. There is only one more day remaining in 2015 and only one more list to get through (no spoilers this time). But before we get to that, we have one more band to feature before the end of the year. And that band would be The Desolate. After a busy year that included a new record titled The Great Departure, the death/thrashers out of Vancouver, Washington have come together to share their ten favorite albums with us… And you, of course.

The Departure’s Best of 2015
1. Ouroboros – Emanating
This album is fantastic for having a unique sound unlike almost anything else that came out in 2015.
2. Napalm Death – Apex Predator – Easy Meat
‘Cause Napalm Death is classic grind\extreme metal. Can’t go wrong.
3. Jungle Rot – Order Shall Prevail
It’s great to hear Jungle Rot’s classic death metal sound with the awesome modern production.
4. Between the Buried and Me – Coma Ecliptic
BTBAM has morphed into a contemporary version of Queen with fantastic musicianship all around.
5. Cattle Decapitation – The Anthropocene Extinction
This album is definately a best of 2015 for redefining what death grind can be.
6. Battlecross – Rise to Power
Classic metal sound with a modern metal edge. Fantastic songwriting makes this a best of the year for sure.
7. Nile – What Should Not be Unearthed
You can’t go wrong with Nile. Speed death metal at its finest.
8. Iron Maiden – The Book of Souls
Iron Maiden do it again, still staying relevant in modern metal with another fantastic album that isn’t boring even through long songs and two discs of material.
9. The Black Dahlia Murder – Abysmal
Another death metal classic from the modern death metal masters.
10. Rivers of Nihil – Monarchy
Able to harness melodic, and technical death metal into one of the best releases of 2015.

And a great list it is… because we’ve covered just about all those albums at one point or another! Anyway, thank you very much to The Desolate for their time. For more information on the group, be sure to visit their Facebook page for up to date information. As I mentioned earlier, their latest release, The Great Departure, dropped earlier this year.
