The Sign Records has announced June 30 as the release date for MaidaVale‘s North American version of Tales of the Wicked West and today we are excited to bring you the second track from this album “Colour Blind.” The original version of this album came out last year (and can be heard here) but hopefully, with this stateside release, more listeners will get a chance to experience MaidaVale’s bluesy and psychedelic take on the late 60’s and early 70’s rock scene. Check out all the details after the jump.
MaidaVale falls in line with recent powerhouses The Riven and Blues Pills but with more of a classic rock sound. The band has been around since 2012 and have honed their skills on the live concert circuit playing at festivals and with many notable bands in and around their home. Tales of the Wicked West is their debut and it shows the band at a level of musicianship generally reserved for the older, more seasoned groups. With “Colour Blind” we get a front row seat to rollicking riffs, heavy groove and an absolute powerhouse of a singer, check it out below.
As heard above MaidaVale kicks out the jams in the best of ways. And this is but one taste from Tales of the Wicked West, the rest will definitely be worth the wait for those of us on this side of the pond. Tales of the Wicked West was recorded with Joona Hassinen at Studio Underjord and features artwork from Dutch artist Maarten Donders. Don’t forget to pick up your copy June 30 via The Sign Records and keep up with all things MaidaVale over on their Facebook page.
