A very metal Monday to you all! We’v got a very cool read to share from the folks over at Slate on Alexandra Crockett and her new book, Metal Cats, due out May 6. Crockett’s book is the product of two years spent traveling up and down the West Coast, taking pictures of metalheads with their cats. DAWWWWWWWW.

In many cases, the metalheads Crockett met with had rescued their cats from shelters. From the article:

The book speaks to the fact that a lot of people in the [metal] scene rescue animals instead of getting them from breeders,” Crockett said. “You go into a shelter, and I think [the cats] choose you; you will see in the photos that they match their owners and personalities. That’s the one that that ties them together: They have a cat that matches them.

Need another reason to check out Metal Cats? Crockett will be sharing a portion proceeds from her book with no-kill shelters in some of the cities she visited during her trek. All that’s left to be determined is whether she met the folks that graced us with this:
