It’s a little crazy to think that Ronnie James Dio’s been gone for four years already. It’s not a stretch at all to say that his death from stomach cancer robbed the metal world of one of its biggest heroes. The guy had one of the most instantly recognizable voices in the genre, and brought instant firepower to any and every project he worked on.

So to pay tribute, we’ve put together a Spotify playlist compiling some of his finest performances over the years. You’ll see stuff from Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and his own solo band, Dio. You will not see his guest spot as Dr. X on Queensryche’s Operation: Mindcrime II, because fuck that entire album in its face. (Though to be fair, Dio’s guest spot was probably the best thing about it)
