Double duty for me today because Corey’s off to see Arsis and Allegaeon while wearing a suit. No, really. But more on that later. For now, here are today’s Quickies–let’s take a look back at what we missed in the world of metal today:
- Leading off, Mark Hunter has decided to end Chimaira. Probably for the best, seeing as literally everyone else in the band quit over the past couple of days.
- Wanna hear your first sampling of new At the Gates? Cool, here’s 30 seconds’ worth. Yes, the video runs 1:11 in length, but there’s only 30 seconds of actual music. How Slipknot of them!
- Metallica just got into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most Metallica feat possible: playing concerts on all seven continents in a calendar year.
- So Divine Heresy…may be reuniting? Haven’t listened and don’t really care either way, but I’d fully endorse this move if it meant Tim Yeung would be done fapping on his drum kit in Morbid Angel/Disco D record.
- And finally, we end with another throwback–to a 1990 video interview the late Joan Rivers did with GWAR. Check it out here:
Rest in peace, Joan. (And, of course, Dave.) That’ll do it for today. Check back tomorrow for your usual Horns Up stuff!
