This week’s Throwback is gonna be a quick one because work sucks and I have to do it. (Story of our lives!) BUT, as it happens, we’ve got a birthday in the metal world, for a guy most of you will know: Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, who hits the big 5-0 today!

Ahh, Robert. Champion of funk influences, of infectious grooves, of hilarious bass-face and of multiple ponytails in the world of metal. It’s all too easy to make fun of Metallica’s output since Rob joined the band–especially Lulu, because for fuck’s sake. But I won’t do that here, because frankly, it had also gotten all too easy to do so before he joined the band. Plus, he just seems like a good dude. So instead, I’ll throw WAY back to his time in Suicidal Tendencies, and revisit a song from his first album with the band, Lights, Camera, Revolution. Here’s “Get Whacked.”
